My name is Jorge and Ive been lurking here for quite a while.
This board and skin care is addicting. Im 27 year old male who about 8 months ago was using zest soap on my face and now I have tried almost every popular product.
Its insane!
On to the shaving question.
Ive tried dermalogica shaving oil crap thingy and it sucks ass. The oil clogs up the razor. I spend 20 minutes pounding my razor on my sink. I tried Murad shaving cream and it doesnt foam up very much. The only stuff that works is the gillette crap. Im just afraid of causing damage to my skin. Or interfering with my skin care program. really.
Hiding this habit is hard. Im a straight dude and this isnt usually straight dude behavior... Anyway, enuff with my insecurities...hehe
By the way, I did the 18 weeks of obagi nuderm and now im on maintenance.

Hi Jorge,
Try the search function of the EDS Forum. I remember some people recommending Kiss My Face shaving creams and Alba too I think.
Here's one EDS review:
Kiss My Face Moisture Shave in Key Lime
(also comes in other scents: Peaceful Patchouli, Peach Moisture, Vanilla Earth, Lavender and Shea, Cool Mint, and unscented, both in an 11oz and 4oz. size)

I haven't tried them but I found some seemingly nice affordable organic shaving products at Target (!) - the company is Shea Moisture: www.sheamoisture.com All the ingredients look great and natural! |

I'm currently trying out the Aveeno line of shave creams. The Positively Smooth has been my favorite so far. |

Hi Jorge,
I have a really difficult time shaving as well. I've tried expensive and cheap shaving creams from Neutrogena, King of Shaves, Dr Bronner's, Anthony Logistics, popular drugstore brands and on and on... My favourite is the Alba unscented one.. It's cheap, provides decent lubrication and there is no fragrance to it also it's transparent so you can see where you are shaving... I did buy the Tend Skin Shave gel from this site and it is really good.. a little better then Alba but it's EXTREMELY expensive so unless I win the lottery I'll stick with my Alba which is almost as good.. If you want to splurge though the Tend Skin air gel is a good shaving gel.. My experience though is to stay away from shaving creams/gels and aftershaves with fragrance and alcohol. It just makes things worse. I don't know why manufacturers think that men want to be tortured after they shave with products that are more like eau de toilette instead of providing irritant free products.... Live and learn though.... |
