I know threading has been done on here before but as the thread was dated last year I thought it safe to post again.
I moved to Brisbane from NZ 5 months ago-I got my eyebrow and upper lip threaded for over 2 yrs and miss it terribly. Can anyone tell me where I can get them done here? I have spent the last 5 months trying to find someone! I got them waxed but it hurt soooooo much that I vowed I HAD to find someone who does threading! I found it quick and easy and less pain than waxing if done properly.
Thanks for reading this anyway if you cant help! |

Hi ex-pat NZ'er (I'm from NZ too)
The best place you can find a salon is an Indian beauty parlour, they often appear to be spas or hair dressers but do a range of facial treatments and hair removal services. The *best* places I go are little boutiques in suburbs where there are a lot of ethnic minorities, the ladies who offer the services are usually very skilled and charge very low fees. |

I love waxing but am unfamiliar with threading - can you describe the difference?
Oh wait, is it that treatment where cotton threads are used for really precise, follicle specific shaping? I never did know the name of that! |

Threading is brilliant! It makes such a difference to the shape of your eyebrows, waxing cannot possibly give the same results.
Selfridges and John Lewis were offering the service for around £30! I have mine done in a local 'Indian' salon for £3![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

Threading is a technique using twisted threads for pulling out unwanted hair by the roots. It's very precise, in the hands of an expert, and less painful than waxing because fewer hairs are pulled at once. It may also be less irritating to the skin. It's commonly done in South Asia, which is why the easiest way to find an expert threader is by checking beauty salons catering to Indian or Pakistani women. But nowadays other salons have added it as well. Ask around... |

Flitcraft, I'm new to Seattle and am asking around YOU, as to where you can get it done.
Can you steer me to someone good?
I got a fab hairdresser tip from ginnielizz, hope to find a threader, though I have never had it done in my life. Thanks! |

I have threading done on my eye brows, and love the results. |

Hi existential lady, I didn't realize we were neighbors! Sorry I can't make a recommendation from personal experience here. I got threaded a few times when in the UK and liked it a lot, but recently I've been using the little epicare device to "self-thread." So I haven't ventured out to find a good local threader. |

OK...I just googled threading and Seattle, and it looks like there aren't many choices. There's a woman named Ari at Salon Image on Queen Anne who gets mixed reviews online--some love her, others thought she was overpriced (17 dollars for brows) and that the salon was dirty. There's also someone named Jane in Shoreline with only a couple of reviews, all positive, who also does waxing and sugaring as well as threading.
Although I haven't explored this option, I bet Vancouver is chock-a-block with great, cheap threaders. |

You can get an Epicare for about $3 online that does the same thing as threading, and you do it yourself! |

Usually salons do not advertise threading as one of their services. If a salon has Indian or Middle Eastern hair dresser, you can ask if they do threading. Another option to ask Indian ladies where they have their eye brows done. If you do not know Indian ladies, you can ask in an Indian grocery store, they should be able to provide several references. Indian stores also carry Indian news papers with ads.
I would not be able to do such good job on myself as I get done by my threading lady. Also, I get my hair done in one salon, that is more upscale, and have threading done in another down to earth salon. |

Don't get me wrong--I *love* my Epicare, but you can't use it to shape your brows. So there's still a good reason to locate a good threader. I don't worry too much about my brows and just pluck 'em since I've grown my bangs out--they cover a multitude of sins... |
