Haven't heard of this company until just recently when a co-worker of my told me that she used to work for the company, saying that they have amazing stuff. She said that she had demoed on her left hand with one of the caviar cream OMG i could not believe what i saw the skin was so much softer, brighter, an amazing difference. I went to the website and notice that they have a line for sensative skin. that got me even more interested. Has anyone tried this pricey line from switerland? thanks for your help.

I have an exfoliator (for face) wich is wonderful. Not too pricy either, comes in large 200ml container. Lovely and creamy and not too rash on my skin. Doesn't leave it dry either...LOVE IT! Other than that the line is too pricy for me |

Wow, I didn't realise that there was a La Praire product that wasn't too pricey!
The only two things I have tried were the caviar eye serum (in the blue bottle with the dropper - the name escapes me) and the Cellular Hydrating Serum. Both were $$$ and I would definitely not repurchase the eye serum. The Hydrating Serum was nice and I would buy it again if it was on a super sale somewhere. But it definitely wasn't worth the Au$220 (or thereabouts) that I paid for it.

Mabsy, the essential exfoliator from La Prairie is suprisingly cheap... I went too my local make-up/skin care store and said I needed a good and not too expensive exfoliator. They had brands like Chanel, YSL, Biotherm etc, but the lady gave me the La Prairie exfoliator and told me it actually was one of the best and cheapest she had! I could not believe my ears! Considering the amount (200ml bottle) it was cheaper than most of the other brands. Well, anyway, it is wonderfully creamy and I love to have such an exclusive brand in my bathroom cupboard... |

Went to Saks today and got some info on the products and a few samples of the serum. So will try it tonight, and see if it works magic. |

La Prairie used to be good when they used the real placental protiens. But they stopped using it years ago so i dont know why their prices keep going up. Cellcosmet at least still use real cells and are worth it if you can afford it. |

For me Laprairie are to expensive for what they do for my skin,
Last May i bought the eyes cream and face cream the total for the 2 was 400$, i never believe i will spend this money on beauty care.
Two week later i send back the face cream because this cream do nothing for me.
I keep the eyes cream because i was to shy to send this one back too. i use it but do nothing for me.
I will never buy Laprairie again. |

Ive been using it since my 20's and i love it. I just started using the caviar extrait and i notice a visible difference in fine lines. The funny thing is the best skincare stuff i use always seems to be from switzerland. Juvena q10 revive and la prairie. I wonder if thats just coincidence but i doyubt it. Those are the ONLY products i can use where i see a visible difference. |

Just curious that where did you buy from that allows for return? |

Hi! I'm new but have been browsing the forums for a little bit and have found this forum to be most helpful so I figured I should add my two cents.
To start, I'm Asian with combo skin, 30 yrs young and have some starter wrinkles that I am trying to do something about.
I just bought the la prairie advance marine biology cream and may I say it is worth every penny? And only after 2 days of using!
I believe I paid USD171 for the 40ml jar and it should last me forever since a tiny bit goes a long way.
First, the 'cream' is actually more gelatinous in texture and a little scary looking as it's more opaque/gooey-looking than gel-like as I thought it would be. It feels very nourishing and soothing on the skin without the oiliness I've experienced with higher-end cream such as Chanel, Lancome and La Mer. (I have tried quite a bit of things)
Second, it DOES repair the skin as I had a couple of tiny pimples along my hairline that disappeared overnight and plumped up my undereye bags in ONE day. I also noticed an improvement in texture (tighter pores?!?) overall.
Third, I absolutely love how it melts in, leaving only fresh, moist skin.
Miraculous? Probably not but pretty darn close. I will update if anyone wants details. Cheers! |

I've tried the hyperpigmentation bottle from La Prairie, I have to say they're too overpriced for what they do when you can probably achieve the same w/ less expensive products, or maybe even natural oils |

i dont think this product is over the top........i think its all hype mostly due to the price.....there are much cheaper products in the market that does exactly the same thing if not better |

My only awareness of La Prairie was, obscenely expensive high-end stuff, something about caviar, yadda yadda, probably not in my lifetime.
But this marine biology cream sounded intriguing and I found something about it that's kinda interesting and might explain why it's so nice, especially as plankton extracts have been turning up in a number of brands including Remergent, Lancasters, et al.
From this PDF document (hosted at website for a boutique/salon in Berlin) promoing the launch of the marine biology cream from La Prairie:
"...With Advanced Marine Biology Cream, La Prairie has carried its research to a new level, combining five deep-sea elements
in a protective treatment that women and men can begin using in their 30s to counteract the earliest stages of aging skin.
• A marine-biotechnology active substance, which is comprised of Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan Extract) and
fermented Sarcodiotheca Gaudichaudi Extract, has remark-able protective, nourishing and collagen-stimulating
action. It is obtained by aqua culture, the procedure of cultivating, on land, algae and other marine plants in a
scientifically controlled seawater environment. This proprietary complex was developed exclusively for La Prairie.
• Purified Sea Water, naturally rich in minerals, improves hydration by reinforcing the skin’s lipidic barrier and
strengthens the cohesion between the dermis and epidermis.
• Protective and Anti-Aging Complex is composed of encapsulated microspheres that bond to dehydrated areas of the
skin, releasing their active ingredients to protect and hydrate. Among these active encapsulated ingredients are Rice
Ceramide, Seaweed Extract (brown algae) and Alpha Tocopherylquinone S. The Complex also contains Aosaine (green
algae), rich in biopeptides, which restores firmness.
• Palmaria Palmata Extract (Sea Parsley), which has soothing and anti-oxidant properties.
• Coral Weed Extract, which stimulates cell oxygenation and reduces redness.
The action of these five marine elements is complemented by La Prairie’s exclusive Cellular Complex, which enhances the
skin’s own protective mechanism and natural repair process. Advanced Marine Biology Cream also contains potent
moisturizers and Hyaluronic Filling Spheres, which diminish the appearance of wrinkles..."
A complete ingredient list is in the link to the document, too. I like that all the marine materials are "...obtained through proprietary aqua culture, technology that enables marine plants to be cultivated on land without endangering the sea’s ecosystem..." and that "Céline Cousteau, ocean adventurer and granddaughter of legendary undersea explorer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau, has volunteered her support through selective appearances. She is International Program Coordinator of Ocean Futures Society, to which La Prairie is making a donation for every jar of Advanced Marine Biology Cream sold."
Now I'm going to have to track down a sample!!! |

I think for this purpose, Japanese lines would be a better try. |

I've tried out most of their eye creams and won't recommend them unless you have $ to spare.
The stronger ones gave me milia but maybe ok on girls with dryer skin. The only product i liked was their smart eyecream with spf. My wrinkles are still there, the tiny bumps along my lower eye bone are still there (not milia). They are decent eye creams but nothing miraculous. Please note that the radiance eye cream has illuminating particles on them - so you eyes look fresher upon application. It's strange, especially when it is recommended for night use...
I also tried a couple of their serums - de sensitizing, hydrating and retexturizing. I won't repurchase. The hydrating one did nothing for me. I can't tell if the desensitizing worked after 2 bottles... the retexturizing really works but was too strong for me. My skin got red and itchy.
I do like their day cream, night cream and time release moisturizer. These are simple basic creams. I have read that their older basic lines are better than the "newer" caviar lines which cost an arm and a leg .
It's alot cheaper in Switzerland! I managed to get my serums for about $100 usd per bottle. |

hi caboodle,
sorry i didn't try this eye cream. i tested LP eye creams out a couple of years ago. The ones i tried are
1) Cellular Radiance Eye Cream
2) Cellular Eye Moisturizer SPF15
3) Essence of Caviar Eye Complex
4) Cellular Eye Contour Cream
5) Lipo-Sculpting Eye Gel
Of the five, i may go back to the smart eye cream with spf 15 and cellular eye contour cream. *may*
If you are into marine skin care, try out Huet Biologie and Phytomer.
The LP SA are pretty nice and should be willing to give you samples to try. If not, there is always good old ebay
let me know if you're curious about any of the eye cream i tried |

I don't know, I tried their swiss daily essentials and thought that they were alright, but nothing special. The packaging etc was really cool and i liked the feel of the balancing lotion but didn't notice anything that great.
okay, not worth the money again tho. |

I totally agreed with snowstar!
I tried almost all LP products. But I did not see much improvements.
The only brand that gave me a new look is Obagi, which is much cheaper comparing to LP. |
