Hi! I'm new to this site. I just found you guys the other day. I had made an appointment for Refirme, but decided to hold off on it and try some other things before plunking down the big bucks.....
My main problem is soft skin that's starting to sag (neck and jaw line). So I am looking primarily for SKIN TIGHTENING. (monthly chemical peels, botox, and juvaderm removed all my wrinkles... so those are a non-issue for me...).
On my quest for a home skin tightening device one thing I came across, but have read no reviews for is the Starlight Skin Laser.
So far after having read everything here I'm leaning towards purchasing the Stimlight (the model for aging skin). I'm thinking, based on everything I've read, it may be more effective for skin sagging then the Baby Q, based on the light range. Does that sound about right?
Anyhow, that's all my questions for now. I can't wait to try the asprin mask!!! I like to make my own skin products so this looks like a great site for me. I've been compounding vitamin K into vitamin e oil and I sometimes try other things as well. Thank you in advance!
I look forward to learning from all of you here, and sharing anything I can as well! |

Hi Tesse, and welcome to the forum!
I'm jumping right in here, because you should know right off the bat that the LightStim, or any other LED for that matter, although it will *help* with skin tightening and firming, isn't going to completely and totally rid you of sagging. First of all the aging process continues as we speak, so having a total regime with LED being a part of it, which can definitely keep things at bay, is probably a more realistic goal.
Also realize that not everyone has the same results. You will find opinions from rants to raves for every LED device that has a review here. Some folks experience great results right off the bat that continue to improve, I am one of them! Other's have great results over a longer period of time. And others still, for one reason or another don't have a good response at all.... Just keep in mind that it's no quick fix, and will not transform a very flaccid neck or jaw on it's own.
Another important point you should know is that it takes a real commitment several times per week, to get and maintain results. I'm going into my 11th month of use, and can tell you that I have had major improvement spikes, and also plateaus, where things just remained the same for a few weeks. Overall it is well worth the commitment I have made, and I have absolutely no regrets. With that said, I can also tell you that I'm enjoying a face, neck + skin that looks 15 years younger than the clock says!
What it hasn't improved on me, is crows feet, under eye fatty bags + upper lip lines from to many years of smoking.
What it has improved on me; skin is firmer, clearer, smaller pores, broken caps, decreased lines (especially neck), no pigmentation left on chest or hands, firmer jaw, NL folds, upper eyes + face.
You should also take a look at the Flex Effect thread for facial exercise, which many of the members have fantastic results with.... (Now that's something that didn't work for me at all, so that's what I mean about us all responding so differently).
Anyhoo, that's my .2 cents worth.. Hope it helped. Please ask many questions on the ProLight + Quasar threads, if nobody jumps in to help you here. Take your time doing lots of research for the best possible device for 'your' needs.. |

Thanks Kassy!
That's wise advice. I will definitely try to be consistent, give it time, and follow directions with anything I try. And I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't work. I realize these things work differently for each person
It makes sense that some procedures will be more effective on one skin than on another. It seems like even the professional lasers have varying success on different people.
About 5 years ago I did Titan (two sessions spaced 4 months apart), and I thought the results were amazing. Even 6 months after the last session I could feel the tightness in my skin, and it did look younger. I was pleased with the results. But the procedure was REALLY painful, and I did get a burn mark on my temple that took a long time to heal. I seem have thin, soft skin so it's probably a little more sensitive.
I don't mind trying the LED light therapy. I know the results won't be as affective as laser, but I don't mind trying it and saving some money for the time being. Tonight I bought the Pretika Light Sonic (for $29 at Rite Aide) which I figure I'll try until I order something more powerful. From what I've read, people have reported it being helpful for acne (in fact it sounds better then the device Pretika sells specifically for acne!!!), so I figure I will try it for a few of months and then give it to my son to use for acne.
I noticed the Flex Effect on Amazon, but the photo looked so bizarre!!! |

My question... when does LED become a Laser? Is this thing a true laser, or is it just an LED?
Here's the lowdown on the Starlite:
Product Description:
Starlite Laser Skin Rejuvenation Device diminishes expression lines, erases fine lines, and eliminates blemishes for men and women of all ages and skin types. The Starlite in-home device has been developed with the same technical standards as professional cosmetic lasers, yet it operates at a lower power that is gentle and safe for home use.
Starlite operates through low power medical grade 655nm red spectrum soft laser technology combined with effective 940nm infrared spectrum pulsed LED light energy. This condensed light, created by the StarLite low-level laser, stimulates cellular processes including more effective and faster cell renewal, the absorption of important nutrients needed for cell repair, collagen production, ATP (energy) production and stimulation of the mitochondria. Enjoy this luxurious laser rejuvenation technology wherever you please, whether in bed or on-the-go. Starlite is the quick and easy way to diminish expression lines and erase fine lines, while repairing skin damage from past indiscretions. You can remove blemishes and reduce the appearance of scars, all without a trace of discomfort or harm to your skin.
How does Starlite work?
The sun’s beneficial light energy is a primary source of cellular energy. Starlite nourishes this energy, and emits the same wavelength light energy as the cold red spectrum of sunlight without the skin-damaging ultraviolet A and B wavelengths. Starlite's output has a key advantage over natural light energy through abundance of energy or density. It can more effectively penetrate the top layers of your skin even when your skin is toughened or weathered as the result of aging and other factors. You will notice the laser light is very bright, an indicator of the abundance of energy, yet the device is still safe on your skin. You will not experience and pain, heat, or physical sensation during or following laser use. This device can be used on all skin types, even extremely sensitive skin, without redness or irritation.
Product Benefits:
With Starlite, there's no Botox or Restylane needles, no harmful chemicals, no burning lasers. A few minutes of use per day in the comfort of your own home can show significant improvement in your wrinkles, fine lines, blemishes, sun damage, age spots, enlarged pores, rough skin and calluses, light scars, lips, and much more. The Starlite is a perfect complimentary product to your normal skin regimen.
