i read a book written by Japanese, talking about the different usage of salt.
one of the points he proposed is the use of salt water for face:
dissolve a little sea salt in water
apply it on the face (similar to toner)
wait for a while (maybe 30s)
wash away
It is very simple and cheap method. It helps to minimize the pores and tighten the skin.
I tried it once and found it amazing! I keep using it every night. |

Aren't there facial salt scrubs out there? I haven't tried any, but I wonder if that's the theory behind them.
I have to admit that when I was a teenager, my skin always improved when I was spending time at the ocean in salt water. Haven't tried it in years, though--the ocean in the Pacific Northwest is way too cold to try! |

I was in Marmaris/Turkey last week. My skin felt great. It might be the salt water from the sea, it could also be the mineral water I used to drink when I was there or maybe the hot weather. |

Lucky you, mimiek, to have been in Marmaris! Maybe it as the diet rich in gorgeous fruits and vegetables, fish, and olive oil that helped. Or maybe the lack of stress of being on vacation. Wish we could all go there and find out for ourselves...wouldn't that be a great experiment?! |

Sugar Scrub is good too..
I add sugar (brown) into my facial cream and scrub for a sec and wash it .. Then you can feel the smoothness.. try it |

I do agree, it was one of my best vacations, great weather, nice people and good food. No stress, I enjoyed the Turkish hammam, the activities available,,, everything. I already miss Marmaris and I'm planning for a new vacation in May/June and august next year.
The Turkish guys were really nice and good looking with worked out bodies. You'll love it. |

when i got a new piercing, i was supposed to wash the piercing with sea salt water twice a day. i usually just end up dunking my whole face in the salt water to clean the one little area.
as a result of this sea salt water cleansing, my face looked better with less breakouts. |

Doesn't skin get too dried up? I aways notice it at the seaside (although it might be because of the sun?..) |

Its like when you go to the beach. The ocean salt water is great for oily skin. If you have dry skin - this would only make your problem worse though. |

I have Dead Seasalt scrub from the brand Premier, but I don't use it everyday. It's a good product though.
I also love Marmaris, great place! |

If you guys ever get a chance to visit a hot spring. I highly recommend it. You feel amazing, it's great for your well being. Also the minerals (I believe..it's their work) make your skin feel great! I hope to live near a hot spring some day. or at least travel to one frequently. There are some gorgeous ones around the world. |

This is not about the skin on our faces but may relate. After dental surgery I was told to rinse frequently with tepid salt water as it is healing, I think it draws impurities out and is cleansing. I heard this from 3 dentists that I saw around that time regarding the procedure. Seemed like such an old fashioned remedy but my mouth healed very well and quickly. |

This is an old remedy for sore throats. Whenever I felt a cold coming on my mom used to shout at me "GARGLE WITH SALT WATER". You're supposed to use lukewarm water and table salt.
* A little off topic but it proves the healing properties of salt on our bodies tissues! |

Hi! I'm looking to buy dead sea salt for bathing. Can anyone recommend a good pure brand?
I came across salt by AHAVA for a good price, but I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my money.
Thanks! |
