Hello,
Has anyone tried Yonka's sunscreen of SPF 25?
I have recently got two tiny light brown spots on my face. According to the beautician, it's due to poor sun protection. So, I plan to use a "daily" sunblock this summer. But I wish to have something light enough that I could simply apply on in the morning right after applying my routine day cream. I've tried the sample of Yonka sunscreen for a few days. It is not greasy at all and it gives a light feeling.
However, I wish to get some feedback from those who might have used this product longer. And, could someone tell me if this sunscreen really bad chemically speaking (i don't see any ingredients on the sample)?
Thanks a lot!

I've never really used sunscreens.
I've got the 6, which I like although it does feel rich, actually richer than the janson beckett 25 I'm using as it's gone really sunny.
I think if you find something that feels right for your skin then use it. I wouldn't use something that clogged my pores or broke me out continually just because it may or may not be a couple of % better at sun filtering.
Not really the long term use of Yonka 25 answer you were after but I don't think many people have stuck with one sunscreen for several years to be able to tell. |

Hi Jiji
These 'natural' sunscreens are problematic. I've asked in natural skincare threads a few times now to try and find out what people use but no-one replies.
This one certainly doesn't contain any bad chemicals. You can see the ingredients listed on the EDS shopping site andwww.yonka.com, but on the negative side it just says 'natural UVA/UVB filters', which says nothing.
I'd be more inclined to use a natural sunscreen with some tried and tested physical block, (ie. it stays on top of your skin and reflects the rays off) such as titanium dioxide.
I'm on the search for a good natural sunscreen too so I'll just pass on links to some I'm considering.
There's a good looking natural screen here from Aubrey Organics, I've often heard good reports of their products.
http://www.aubrey-organics.com/product1.cfm?product_id=251&cat=16
and Eve posted another one before which looks good
from Greenpeople
http://www.greenpeople-organic-health.co.uk/Product_Details.asp?Pc=G001&cc=G
and of course Dr H
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/dr-hauschka-sun-block-sti-p_2086.htm
all of these contain some known physical block.
BTW, there's no point just covering sunspots when the sun's out, you need to cover them all year round - rain or shine if you want them to fade. UVA is always present.
If you use mineral foundation you can use that instead or in addition to sunscreen. I use extra over my hyperpigmentation.
HTH a bit. If you do try any natural sunscreens be sure to post a review. It'd be a first!

Hello Eve and Molly,
Thanks a lot for your kind replies! I'm really confused of what to choose as an efficient sunblock with little chemical harm to health, light enough to be worn during the day when I work, not causing break-out. Does it exist such a product?
I've tried the sample of Dr. H sunscreen (SPF15). It makes my oily skin shines just a bit too much
Yonka's doesn't do so but like I said, I couldn't be sure of its chemical effects.
I'll take a look at the sites you linked, Molly. I'll have to decide very soon for this. BTW, are you currently in China? I might be transferred to Beijing for 1-2 years for work. Is good skin care product generally easy to access in China? I'll really appreciate if you could give me an idea on this subject. Thanks.

Hi Jiji
I was also considering DDF's organic sunscreen. If you look on their websitewww.ddf.com it's just won a ABC TV award. It's a combo of anti-oxidants and mineral screen.
I am in China now and I used to live in Beijing. You can buy quite a few department store and other brands there perfectly easily, such as Shiseido, Avon, Clinique, Ulay, Avene, but some are really overpriced, especially some middle range products which have repositioned themselves as high end; Garnier Synergy for example (maybe it's changed it's name).
If there's a brand you're particular about tell me which one and I'll ask my Beijing friends if it's available there.
Sunscreen is more of a problem, they sell it in tiny bottles and I'm not sure whether it's any good.
Feel free to PM me if you need to know anything else about BJ.

i have been using the DDf Organic sunscreen for about 3 days now (its sunny and hot here) i cleaned the pool today and my face did not burn at all (should have used it on the whole body) but most important it did not burn or feel heavy I applied it like I would during the week but no JI foundation and it absorbed in and felt great. |

Redhead, that's good news. I think I might go for it. Any white cast though? I imagine you're a pale skinned, red-headed person who wouldn't notice some whiteness on their face, am I right?
Jiji - I should have mentioned. If you're going to Beijing and you're concerned about skincare you may need to change your entire strategy. Beijing, I read somewhere, is the dryest city on earth in the winter and it certainly feels like it. Indoors is dry enough, but one hour outside and every scrap of moisture is sucked from your skin and hair, you come home looking 10 years older - no kidding. You need to think about intensive moisturisation. Unless you're exceptionally oily or you already live somewhere like this, a lot of Canadian EDS users seem to live in a similar state of winter dehydration. |

If you don't use massive amounts and rum in well it did not turn "white faced" but for around the yard i would not care. It is very light in texture |

Hello Molly,
Thanks a lot for the tips! Great, I could get some advice from you regarding Beijing!
Wow, dry weather in Beijing..., I have combi skin but could get dehydrated sometimes...
Let me sort the questions out from my head and will PM you this weekend (I've to work now unfortunately).

I am the same. I did not bother about sunscreen until now, but I think is the time I pay more attention.
I was looking at the Yonka Creme 410 with SPF 25.
Did any of you tried it? |
