I'm thinking of adding something to my skincare regimen, and am interested in adding one of these. The Remergent DNA repair sounds great for mature, skin damaged skin, but the NIA24 has niaciniamide and lots of soothing emollients. Both are pricey, so I can only pick one. What are your thoughts, folks? I'd be particularly anxious to hear from those who have used both. |

I have only used Remergent, and LOVE the science behind the line. Unfortunately, even though I have NEVER had problems with silicones in the past (including Boots No. & - the "King of 'cones") this line has caused me to break out terribly.
I cannot use the Barrier Repair AT ALL, and I can only use the DNA 3x a week max unless I want mega zits along my hairline and jawline.
While I am not the only person to experience breakouts, others (like Bushy) have had great success with the line.
I would have to vote for NIA24...especially if you have hyperpigmentation.
And if you DO go for Remergent and want to buy some at a big discount, contact me....I stocked up and can't use it now! |

flitcraft- Remergent is not that bad if you buy it
on ebay. I have never used the NIA-24 so I don't know.
My skin loves Remergent as Bethany knows. But I have resistant skin and am 55. Bethany has some catching up in age to me. |

But still....42 is too darn old for me to have zits!! |

Another here who hasn't used the NIA24, but would recommend trying some samples of Remergent to see how your skin reacts.
Fortunately my skin doesn't seem to mind the glycerin or the silicones that are in Remergent and in one month so far (age 45), my skin is noticeably more even-toned, plump and smooth than when I started and for me it has not caused breakouts or millia.
I don't think I will continue with the Progressive Retinol product though; the 0.4% seems a little strong for my skin so far, and I haven't used the microcirculation eye cream yet.
I'm only using the Remergent DNA Repair, the AM Moisture SPF 15 and the Barrier Repair currently, no other products, and am really happy with the way my skin looks and feels with this line! Down the road I might bring in a Vit C serum and an eye cream; just wanted to give Remergent a month and see how my skin handled it before I add anything. |

Caboodle- How are you liking the Remergent a.m.
My face (t-zone especially) is so oily I have been sticking with a non-oily moisturizer during the day. Do want to try this but do need to get samples because I don't want my face looking like a grease pit by the end of the day. Even with powder the oils come through.
Anyway would appreciate you letting me know your thoughts. Thanks |

Plat, I heard that the Remergent SPF 30 is more matte than the SPF 15. |

I can't wait to start trying some of the Remergent products I recently bought. I keep seeing platinumrose's posts regarding Remergent on this board, the Q board, and the HSN board. (Platinunrose, you're a good enabler.) I'm waiting to finish my 18 weeks on Obagi first. I've got 9 more weeks to go and then I'll be starting the Remergent DNA Repair and the Barrier Cream. If I like those 2 products I will try more Remergent. |

platinum, how do you know if the product you buy from ebay is not fake?
Remergent is an expensive and popular brand, will there not be some enthusiasts happy to have their part of success? |

I like remergent DNA repair and I still have oily skin. I used NIA for a while (2 tubes) and didn't notice a drastic difference....though my chest likes it. I used the sunscreen and found it a bit heavy and waxy feeling.I think NIA is geared towards anyone with thin, depleted skin. Remergent is better for the ex-sun-worshiping baby boomers whose barrier hasn't been compromised. Does that makes sense? I'll reread this after some coffee |

I forgot to add, if you have dry, sensitive skin the cleansing cream is wonderful. I can't use it, but it's a wonderful cleanser. EDS has a sampler kit you could try that contains the basics. |

I forgot about the sampler kit! Thanks for mentioning that, Marina. |

Ah, the sampler kit sounds like a good idea. I appreciate the feedback. I do have a bit of hyperpigmentation, though Vitamin C and Diacneal seem to have reduced it markedly, which is why I thought about the NIA24. On the other hand, the science behind the Remergent seems persuasive to me--but I'm no scientist.
So I figured there would be folks here whose experiences would help break the tie! |

Checking back to this thread — in the last week or so, have been breaking out and I'm really hoping it's not the Remergent, but it might be. Strange red bumps and cystic action - a small one on my left cheekbone, and three near my hairline, outside the end of my right eyebrow in the temple area. I don't recall having zits on my temple EVER, even in my teen years.
The only other product I'm using is Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Wrinkle Intensive with Retinol, and that's 1) non-comodogenic plus I've used it before I even started Remergent, and 2) I tried a new MMU and a liquid foundation one or twice in the last couple weeks.
I've been using the AM Moisture and just blotting the glycerin off, but was about to get the SPF30 to see how the finish was with that.
If the Barrier Repair is the culprit for my skin, I'll be looking more closely at the NIA24 and/or other "barrier repair" sort of products. |

Caboodle, are you using the Barrier repair once or twice a day? If twice, I would recommend stopping completely for a bit, and then starting back up at once a day.
I did the same thing, but found that I couldn't handle the Barrier Repair at all, and had to give it up completely. The DNA also made me break out, but to a much lesser degree...especially if I only used it every other day.
BTW, I also got the hairline zits AND the temple zits...areas where I never usually break out either. But I am really hoping it is the MMU in your case, since Remergent is a such a great product line. |

I've just finished one jar of Remergent DNA Repair and liked it, so I've re-ordered. I feel that some fine lines have disappeared. But just to confuse the issue, I also started using Kosmea Eighth Natural Wonder Serum at the same as the Remergent so that could be doing something too.
If you're interested in Niacinamide, you could try making your own serum (it's very economical). I make my own serum with Glucosamine and Niacinamide just mixed with distilled water and glycerin. Come to think of it, I also started to use this at the same time as the Remergent and Kosmea! |

I've been using the Barrier Repair just once a day, at night. After a break, I'll try it again.
I hope it was the MMU or the liquid foundation, but it sounds a lot like the reaction your skin had. I'm also hoping I can still use the DNA repair at least!

I feel bad for those of you that can't use the Remergent or your skin is not adjusting. It does not seem to be the product for sensitive skins that tends to break out.
I just bought NIA24 for my neck so now I have that going as well. But of course my vote is for Remergent. Such an incredible difference in my skin in three months. |

This is the only problem I've had so far, and I'm really loving how my skin has been from using Remergent. I'm going to try using just the DNA repair for a while and see how that goes, then bring the Barrier Repair back in every other day.
Funny thing is, my skin has been occasionally sensitive, but for the most part is normal/combo with slightly oily t-zone and I've thrown all kinds of stuff at it (from expensive to cheap) and have never had temple congestion before! Maybe my skin is just purging/adjusting.
I feel like they can take the DNA Repair from me when they pry it from my cold dead hands!
Perhaps another possible "barrier repair" cream to alternate with is something I saw on the New Products page today:
GloTherapeutics GloConditioning Restorative Cream
Lots of essential fatty acids, antioxidants and anti-inflammatories, Niacinamide, and Spin Trap.
Oddly, that brand's "barrier balm" cream is kinda lightweight in comparison to their restorative cream, IMHO, although it also has Niacinamide and Spin Trap. |

I HIGHLY recommend NIA24 products... I think the scrub and the sunscreen are fantastic. and in the SS you get the 5% niacinamide ingredient that is the keystone of the entire line...
Remergent products made me break out in tiny little congestion bumps.
I use the antioxidant refoliator after light peels and after the NIA24 scrub, but if I am not careful, that makes me break out, too.
At first it was great and really pore-refining, but then after two weeks, I broke out. Nothing too alarming, and it went away after I stopped using Remergent.
I believe my experience is similar to others on this forum.
NIA24 products have never broken me out and seem to be quite beneficial to my skin.
I have heard, though, that it can give the skin a 'tough' look, so I think it should be used in conjunction with a retinoid as well, to counteract the 'toughening' effect. I know that this works for me; this combination has restored my skin this summer from a bumpy, pore-ridden mess to a more refined texture and a glowy tone.

Thanks for all of the great information. Unfortunately, in the past few weeks I've had to fly back and forth between the West Coast and East Coast of the USA every weekend to deal with an aging parent's medical issue. So that has exhausted my bank account (not to mention exhausting me!) and skincare will have to wait.
Maybe by the time I can afford it again, I'll be able to try both!! |

Okay, Caboodle...you've just officially created another lemming for me . The GloConditioning Cream sounds dang good! I have used the NIA24 line since late March - and although it is nice, I'm just not sure I've seen enough of a wow factor to continue. Six months is a long time for me to use any product - but I really wanted to give this one a good and fair shot - I may be ready to move on, and this sounds like it could be something interesting...I was just about to hop on the KH bandwagon, then hopped off (at least for now) as some of the ladies saw an increase in facial hyperpigmentation and I have enough of that!

I've been using the NIA 24 sunscreen for about 2 months. It is the first sunscreen that I've ever been able to use that didn't break me out. Mind you it has been years since I've even tried a sunscreen on my face so maybe I would be fine with other brands now. But it absorbs nicely into the skin and the price is right. I was not using an additional moisutrizer, and was finding my skin was drying out and my MMU would look a little cakey looking by the end of the day so about a month ago I added NIA24 skin strengthing complex to try and add some moisture. Because of the price I guess I was expecting some miracle, but it's not adding as much moisture as I thought. But the main reason I am using NIA24 is to help with hyperpigmentation and it does seem to slowly be getting lighter. I will definitely repurchase the sunscreen, not sure yet about the strengthing complex. My skin may still be adjusting so I am going to wait until the tube is finished before I make a final decision. |
