I think they are essentially the same thing, but there's bad blood between the companies and founders/inventors.

I've used Epidermix II, talked w/ Amy on the phone, and just in general like her philosophy. I'd definitely choose EII. Also, you can get it here from EDS.

You can't go wrong with EpidermX! I've been using it for a few years now and still love it. Plus, like tjsmom said, Amy of EpidermX is AMAZING and really sweet and helpful.

BCIW, the "balling up" was a characteristic of the old formula for EpidermX. The new formula doesn't do that, so don't worry--- you aren't doing anything wrong.

Hi - I've used both!
The microdermx is very much like the original Epidermx but they reformulated I believe and I cannot use it any more.

I tried it because I adored the original Epidermx and found that the EpidermxII seemed to break me out a little but out of the two I would go for the EpidermxII - I just use a little cleanser on my chin (which is where I am prone to breakouts) after using it and its been great. I avoid using either on my cheeks as I am prone to broken caps/redness/sensitivity but its a great product and very gentle.

HTH's
