Hello
I am new here. I am hoping that those who are unfamiliar to the Obagi product line can give their skin type/description and those who are familiar with Obagi products can help in suggesting which line to go with? I am primarily curious about Obagi because I've heard such great things, but I am open to other suggestions....if my skin type is similar to yours, can you please tell me what you use and how long you've used it, how long to expect results etc?
My skin:
*in my teen years very acne prone, currently, at age 34: no cystic acne or whiteheads, but lots of blackheads on my nose, chin, forehead. I will often 'pinch' or flush these out, and very soon afterwards they are BACK! There is no getting rid of them, waaaaahhhh
*Large pores on my cheeks and nose, near nostrils and on chin
*very oily skin!
*although it's oily, if I do too much in terms of anti-acne ointment, it gets flaky, red, and peels
*redness on my cheeks (is this from my Irish descent or something else?). I flush easily when working out, or even if I smile my face gets red!! grrrr
*very sensitive skin--rubbing or scratching causes instant redness.
*some ice pick scars, not too many. One that stands out on my nose.
*some fine lines, I am 34. never been a smoker.
I currently use (but I often switch around, as I am still seeking that 'perfect' skin care product):
AM:
Burts Bees radiance facial cleanser
Purpose moisturizer/sun block
clear pure aloe vera gel (alchohol-free--I use this as a primer)
PM: cleanse with the burts bees then use Alba green tea and aloe moisturizer.
Sometimes: Salycic acid toner on my nose and chin but it's really not helping to get rid of blackheads.
Any advice anyone can give is MUCH APPRECIATED!! does anyone have a similar complextion to mine? It's horrible, isn't it!!? |

Read up on Retin A,It can help with all your problems:Tretinoin (Retin-A, Avita, Renova) is a derivative of Vitamin A and is the treatment of choice for comedonal acne, or whiteheads and blackheads.'
Obagi regime consists of retin A with the active ingredient in the obagi products being 4% hydroquinone.
I think retin A and a good moisturizer(Neostrata moisture infusion cream,Clarins multi acive night cream,Estee lauder day wear(plus) and on the cheaper end Eucerin 5% Urea face cream)would be better and cheaper than using Obagi. |
