Hi Everyone! I feel so fortunate to have found this forum! It is exactly what I needed. I have been doing lots of reading - there is so much here that it is overwhelming! I tried to search a few times, but perhaps I am not doing it well enough to get good hits.

I hope you can give some guidance. I am 52, light olive complexion, in pretty good shape. However, always there's lots of room for improvement - and prevention! Almost 2 years ago, the hyperpigmentation suddenly appeared! Sad ARGH!!! Mad I did the sun thing when I was young - for the past 3 years I have really cleaned up my act - use sunscreen every day (Southern California is not a good place for skin!). And I am sure my hormones didn't help either. Rolling Eyes

Recently, I began putting lots of effort into stepping up my skin care game! Oh, my, there are a million+ products out there! Began to go for microdermabrasions and facials. Began using Tri-Luma on and off over the past 2 years, since the spots appeared.

Anyone have any comment about Skin TX products for hyperpigmentation? Also, I would welcome your treatment success stories - what are the ingredients I should be looking for?
I need to get a good regime going - it's really been getting me down lately! Crying or Very sad I just don't know where to begin. Confused Everywhere I go there is someone trying to sell me something! YIKES! I welcome all of your ideas - and appreciate everyone's great info so far! You are all light years ahead of me! I need to catch up!!!
Thanks so much!

Hi, topnurse. A lot of us on here use the Obagi Nu Derm for hyperpigmentation issues. Hydroquinone is controversial, so you will want to do your research to make sure you are comfortable using that. But, HQ is still dermatologists "gold standard" when is comes to treating hyperpigmentation. The Nu Derm uses Retin A, AHA or phytic acid, and Hydroquinone. You use this as a regimen for 18 weeks. There are a ton of threads here on this forum regarding Obagi, and I would really suggest reading up on them. Just type in Obagi in the search bar.

You also may want to check out this site: http://www.skincare-md.com. It has a wealth of info on Nu Derm.

The only thing I would caution you is that it can be a harsh system. You will be red, flaky, and generally not look your best! You need to really make sure you are ok with that, but, again, it is one of the best systems out there to deal with hyperpigmentation. You must stay on a maintenance regimen once you are done, or your skin will slowly revert to how it was before you started the system. Hope that helps!
