Recently I got a bit over annoyed at someone on a thread about placentas which I regret doing now, but I suddenly thought that there are natural things out there that we can do that do not do harm to animals (in that they don't need to be slaughtered for their placentas or to make oils). So lets start up a thread listing these au nautral kind of skincare goodies.
Now one that I love is an oil called carnelian oil (and is a favourite of many japanese women for its ability to moisturise without weighing down the skin).
There is rinses like ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) thats comes from plants that cleans the hair thoroughly and makes it shine.
There are things like coconut oil which is both a moisturiser, and can be taken internally (and is great for candida).
What others can you think of or do you know about? |

Well its up to people to decide for themselves, but I was focusing on skincare particularly as I think thats something that is easily within our controls
But if you got other ideas - why not share them! |

I just do my part by donating to various organizations that are trying to save endangered species and the rain forest ect. ect.
My days of being teargassed and marching are over at least for now, but I have to say seeing the earth robbed of natural wildlife whether animal or plant bothers me every bit as much as farm raised animals that are caged and treated horridly! And animal products from the wild are still used in skin care and perfume production in many countries!

I know exactly what you mean. I try to do marches and protests as often as my schedule allows me, but its infrequent but I work for a great organisation that really does look after animals and does a great job. It scares me to think that people though fall into beliefs about using animals in cosmetics, because there is little in any proof showing that animal parts in cosmetics are more beneficial than natural plant made skincare.
Its hopefully with threads like this we can raise awareness. I just spotted another thread on here talking about hemp oil and how that saved someones skin. Well hemp is a natural oil also that is known for its moisturising properties and there are hundreds out there. Look at things like avocado, job. oil etc. |

LLG,
I started this thread Organic Skin Care + a good while ago and aside from skin care there are links to all manner of things green! It hasn't seen any posts other than mine and it has some wonderful links you can rage against the machine but people will do as they please when it comes right down to it!

Rosehip oil is fabulous..as is tamanu oil and shea oil or shea butter...there are so many other incredible plant based oils to choose from (www.mountainroseherbs.com offers many organic oils/butters) but along with hemp oil these oils are the ones that are best for my skin right now. I also add eo's (essential oils)to my botanical oils which make a dramatic regenerative difference (smaller pores, smoother skin, faster turnover of old skin cells etc.) i've experimented with using the botanical oils w/o the eo's for a couple of months..then added the eo's again...and saw the same dramatic change. |

Oils can also be used in the hair to give it body and shine. I love coconut oil as a conditioning treatment but also as a styling aid. Coconut oil can also be used on the skin, and some can even be taken internally. Its definitely worth mentioning here.
Thanks for the links DM to the recipes section. I had looked at them previously, but its always good to get a reminder. |
