So...what's happened since the sale some months ago? Is Remergent technology now being incorporated into some Estee Lauder product, and if so, which one? Or did they buy it just to bury it? (Sad if true, but there is precedent for that--years ago, General Motors bought out a number of city streetcar lines and just dug up the rails and ended service.)

Still no REMERGENT relevant thing appeared in EL company website, and the latest acquired one is OJON.

It seems that EL will not lose this opportunity to make fortune. Just like the SkinCeuticals to L'OREAL, DDF to P&G, REMERGENT could be another LA MER thing Bad Grin

From an "insider's" point of view, this is the Big Cosmetic House corporate plan! If a small company creates a succesful product, they'll buy the small company and either re-brand and re-market the product or kill it. If a supplier creates a raw material that is new, novel and very active, they'll take it and patent it into several formulas so that nobody else can use it. It is control and conquer at any cost, just so they can keep the market cornered and at the high prices they want to charge. It happens all the time and L'Oreal, Coty, Estee, Johnson & Johnson are some of the worst offenders.

Holy wha?!?!? They bought OJON?!?!? Guess that answers that question. NO Ojon purchase for me. I adored Ojon because they helped native groups in the areas where they harvested some of the ingredients for the products. I doubt such a corporate giant will do the same...though I may be wrong. It looks like the president who started Ojon will remain as such. But giving yet more of my hard-earned dollars to such a huge conglomerate? Oy vey.

Aw man. Confused

It was seems that when I FINALLY find something that's HG for me, EL steps in and ruins everything. First was aveda...formulas changed, prices shot up...now Ojon. They absolutely wrecked MAC too. They tried to buy Nars years ago but he slammed the door in their faces. Love Nars. They only have distribution rights for Bobbi Brown, but look at how that line has changed over the years.

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. Family of Brands

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. has a diverse portfolio of brands. They include the classic, core brands, Estée Lauder, Clinique, Aramis and Lab Series, which set the tone and direction for the entire prestige beauty industry; the customized, urban Prescriptives; and Origins, the Company’s category-defining lifestyle brand.

Our acquired brands include professional makeup artist lines M·A·C and Bobbi Brown; La Mer, the most innovative and sought-after line of skin care treatments; Jo Malone, the London-based perfumer and skin care expert; Aveda, a maker of premium hair, skin and makeup products created from pure plant and flower-based ingredients; Bumble and bumble, the New York-based, cutting edge hair care company and salon; Darphin, a Paris-based line of skin care, makeup and spa-inspired body treatments created from the finest plant extracts; and Ojon, a Canadian-based hair and skin care brand featuring wild-crafted ingredients collected from Central American rainforests.

The Company is the fragrance and beauty products licensee for seven visionary and desirable names in the fashion world: Kiton, Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Sean John, Missoni and Tom Ford. It also holds the licensee for Mustang, a men’s fragrance.

Starting in 2004, the Company began creating brands to be sold through alternative distribution channels. They include American Beauty, a cosmetics, skin care and fragrance brand that celebrates the beauty of American style; Flirt!, a makeup line consisting of more than 250 shades and influenced by pop culture; good skin™, a dermatologist-formulated, fragrance-free skin care brand; grassroots™, a line of naturally-sourced products blended from pure essential oils for women, babies and pets; Daisy Fuentes, which offers fragrance and body products; Coach, a collection of fragrance and beauty products in partnership with the leading marketer of American accessories; and Eyes by Design, the first prestige cosmetics line that focuses its expertise on the eyes, sold exclusively on HSN and HSN.com.
