I seen many different pricing among those jewelry boxes and I'm wondering if the velvet lining is genuine or not sometimes. For example, many of them is made in China and I'm suspcicious of that. I heard that in order to protect your sterling silvers, velvet can do just that to prevent or at least reduce the oxidation. But if the velvet lining inside those jewelry boxes are fake, then there's no point in using it, am I right?
So~ my question is, does fake velvet even exist? If so, how can I tell? ![Confused](images/smiles/confused.gif) |

Stardust, I’m no expert, but I thought velvet was a “weave” of fabric, rather than a particular fibre, ie, you can have silk velvet, rayon, cotton, etc. I could be wrong of course... it has been known to happen ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

You want to look for a lining that is specially treated to reduce oxidation...whether it is velvet, or something else. Or you can get some anti-tarnish strips and place them in the jewelry box.
Here are some options...the strips are at the bottom of the page.
