Hi, I have just started using Obagi and so far, so good. As expected, I do have redness though and would love to find some products that diminish the redness as much as possible. Do you have any that you can recommend? I'm open to primer, foundation, etc..... FYI, I currently uses Fresh Mineral. However, it gives me such a shiny look, much like the previous Bare Mineral, that I'm not so happy with. I would be very open to change.
Thanks for your help! |

I recommend foundation from La roche posay. I have lots of redness on my face and I've tried many foundations but this one provides "complete" coverage and I use very little of it. One tube can last me 6 months! |

Hi
MakeUp Forever makes a green tinted primer that is supposed to cancel out redness.
L'Oreal True Blend Compact Foundation is a cream foundation that is lightweight but has pretty much total coverage. I use N3 and it really does cover redness 99%. |

Thank you, Fawnie, Olivia, and baby. They sound like great products and I will definitely try them out.
To add another product, I just found a sample from DHC called: Q10 Moist Color Base SPF 30+ . My sample was for a green tint and it certainly takes away the redness. It does leave the face very white looking though so another layer of powder/foundation would probably be needed. Plus, it does not work well if there's much flaking. But then again, I'm not sure what will. Anyhow, it's another product to consider in case anyone else has the same question.
Thanks again for your recommendation. |

I got some red acne scar, and SMASHBOX PHOTO FINISH COLOR CORRECTING FOUNDATION PRIMER ADJUST makes them less visiable. |

Perhaps instead of trying to conceal the redness you should try and find the cause of it and eliminate that?
Perhaps it's rosacea or some sort of bacteria? |

Thank you for the recommendation, Ramses. I'm going to add it to my list of probable items to try.
zverenok, thank you for your suggestion. You are correct, it's always best to address the underlying problem instead of trying to cover it up. However, in my case, I'm currently starting the Obagi Nu-derm program which is HIGHLY "irritable" to the skin. Hence, the consistent and bright redness. My hope is just to get something to cover the redness while I'm on the program. Once my skin adjusts or when I go on maintenance, hopefully, redness won't be an issue anymore. Crossing my fingers anyway.
Thanks, again! |

Hi door,
Antonia on this forum uses Buckthorn Seed Oil to reduce redness, if you can get ahold of some of it.
www.gardenofwisdom.com has some. |

Thank, Fawnie! Now that I remember, I do have some avocado oil, wonder if I should try that too. |

If you have mild case of Rosecea or even simple redness (which is exactly my case), try resting your face from anything with Hydroxy Acid and alcohol. Always use lukewarm water to wash face.
I tried this cream called Atopalm. I don't think it's selling at EDS now (please order cos it's perfect for roscea/sensitive) but after i put a layer on my face, the redness goes away after couple minutes. When I use it at night time, the next day my skin condition has a perfect improvement - less redness and bumpy areas are much more relaxed. Great product, not expensive either. |

Although I am not a big fan of Colorescience myself, they do have some color correcting powders and a lot people swear by Colorescience, it just didn't work for me. One good thing I can say about it is you can't beat the sun protection with CS and that's super-important while you're on OBagi or you'll end up with more damage than you started with. Murad (one of my fave brands) also makes an anti-redness powder (unless they have discontinued it, which they have a knack of doing.) I haven't tried it personally, but I do love everything Murad so anything they make I would recommend. I would stick with something mineral based though as putting any extra chemicals on the skin while you're already irritated will just probably cause more aggravation. Obagi is tough, I've been there, done that, just hang in, it does get better and when all that redness and yuck goes away, you'll love your skin! |
