I am looking for an oil to use under moisturizer to make my skin glow temporarily. I use Skinceuticals CEF serum and I really like it, but it doesnt give me a huge glow. I use Retin A too so my skin is nice, but I work in a drying environment (airplanes) so sometimes my skin is just dry. I was curious about trying rosehip oil, essential oils or something like that. Just for a temporary glowing effect for when I go out. Does anyone have any recommendations? Otherwise, perhaps a day moisturizer that would bring a nice glow, ie not matt. Thanks! |

Squalane Oil might be just the thing for you.. It's light enough to not be greasy, but does leave a nice sheen.. Apply your Skinceuticals C,E,F first though. When fully absorbed, then apply a nice layer of squalane.. (The extra benefit, is that squalane will push your actives even deeper!).. |

I think rose hip oil gives my face some glow. You can also try carrot oil (preferably diluted). It gives an instant, cosmetic effect as it is slightly orange colored. When diluted, it does not make your face orange, just healthy looking.
Just like you, I also found that SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic did not give my skin the glow on a daily basis that I am crazy about, but SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF does, and so does SkinMedica C Complex.

Great thanks for the tips! I will go to Whole foods and check out your rec's.
Septembergirl, I am glad to know that SC Phloretin CF gives you a glow. I thought it would be more drying because it contains alcohol--I am surprised, but I will definately get it next time, since I have heard other great things about it too. |

I have been reading about this oil in the magazines, as well. It is expensive at $135 for 1 fl oz. I can't find a true ingredient list anywhere, but it lists under "ingredients" on the website: jasmine, almond oil, apricot, jojoba, evening of primrose, rosehip, arnica, calendula, neroli, sunflower, and argan. |

Rosehip may cause you to break out, so if you are acne prone at all, I would avoid that one.
Argan and Camilla are 2 other options to consider. And if you use a light oil, you really shouldn't need a moisturizer over it. |

I like Camelia oil it gives my skin an energy boost and glowing sensation. Rosehip oil is also good and I use it diluted by jojoba oil. |

I've tried jojoba oil for the whole week and it works really well. Vitamin C serum help your skin tone look firm and clarified. I used to use Sonya Dakar omega oil and I really, really loved it. Part of the reason why I stopped was because the customer service is bad when it came to shipping to Canada. It was always an issue for them.
Recently, I thought I would just try jojoba oil. It gives the same glow look. |

DHC has a serum oil, which looks like olive oil, could make skin looks glow.
Moreover, Clarins has three facial oil products, which are separately suitable for oil skin, normal skin and dry skin, could be used as night creams, and they are all natural. |

Though not an expert, I would use Rosehip with caution during the day, especially if using sunscreen.
When I make my homemade sunscreen, the Z-Cote HP1 Zinc manufacturer specifies not to use Rosehip oil with the zinc - I'm assuming the trans-retinoic acid might be why, exfoliating type properties?
I use it at night though, love it. |

using oil to make face glow, won't it clog the skin ? what if skin is already oily in nature, using oil does it worsen the condition? |

I love rose hip seed oil too! The NaturDerm products use it, nothing makes my skin glow more than Epidermx II. I truly didn't think I would ever have nice skin. It has changed my life! |

Kassy can I ask where you get your Squalane from? I went to whole foods and the lady has never heard of it. I will try some other natural stores tomorrow. Did you get it online? |

You have to avoid the oils which are known to be comedogenic (there's a list onwww.zerozits.com) if you're acne prone.
Not true that oil will make oily skin oilier. In fact, if you select appropriately, using the right oil or combination of oils can balance your oily skin nicely. Having a bit of oil on the skin can cause your skin to reduce its own oil production as a reflex. If you use too much, you can get paradoxically dry as a result because your skin has switched off oil production too much. |

I agree with the recommendation for Camelia Oil. I read it should not clog your pores. The cost is also under $20. This can also be used on the hair to moisturize. |

have you tried Bio-Oil? not bad. |
This is hit or miss. Some people really like and some people it did nothing for. For me personally it did nothing and sat on top of my skin and would not sink in. It is worth giving a shot since it cost about $10. Can't hurt if it does end up working for you. |

Yes, you can use the Bio Oil on your body scars if it doesn't work for your face! There's some potentially comedogenic ingredients in it so use sparingly and maybe spot treat rather than slathering it all over your face. |

This seems to be a nice product that is a mixture of oils that are beneficial to the skin. I haven't tried it, I just came about this product during a web search.

jom, are you going to try this?
ETA: I love this topic. I don't really remember anything that I have used recently that has given my skin a glow. I trialed the Arcona products, and this really did work for a glow, but I was using the "basic 5" and I don't know if it was a combination of all the products that contributed to the glow or if it was just 1 product in particular. |

$65 for an ounce seems like a lot, no? How much is the other brand? |
