| I am just about to order a few of the JH lippies and am wondering which of her colours are your favorites? I haven't tried any but am thinking about Kiki, Lulu and/or Odessa... TIA! |

| havana, I wear Kiki every day, but it looks like it's just my lips only better. For a more obvious look I like Film Noir. I have dark hair and brown eyes, medium light warm skin. I haven't tried the other two you mention, but I love Julie Hewett. |

Havana, those JH bijou sheers are my favorite lipsticks! Odessa is the darkest--a warm cross between milk chocolate and mauve. The first time I wore it I thought "Ugh, boring brown!" But it turned out to be a sophisticated almondy color that I like so much that I wear it at least once or twice a week. Kiki is a pale peachy-pinky tone, much tonally lighter. It's neutral to slightly warm, but I think it would flatter almost anyone. It's a nice springtime into summer color. I can't speak to Lulu--the coolest of the bijou sheers.
Because these lipsticks are sheer, the color you get is partly the lippie and partly your natural lip color. So they do look different on different folks, I think.
Texture wise you cannot go wrong. That camellia oil is soooo soothing on the lips... |

Hi - I use these as well. I have kiki and find it to be a good neutral. I also have film noir (use for dress mostly as it is darker) and I have belle noir - which is a great spring color - very pretty.
I keep saying I'm going to get Odessa but haven't yet! One of these days. Jules is nice too - more for Fall or for wearing with autumnal or brownish/neutral tones. |

| Another vote for film noir. It's a bit more pigmented than the bijou sheers, but it's flat out gorgeous. Not quite as purple as the "blackberry stain" description, more of a claret color. (I'm going to wear it tonight...as a matter of fact.) |

I also have the film noir and love it. It's become more or less my every day lippie lately. It looks dark in the tube but as it's sheer it's very wearable, on me anyway. The film noir lip pencil is also very nice, not too hard and not too soft, just right to get a defined line.
Last EDS order, on a whim, i got the JH camellia balm. Normally I don't like balms in pots/tubs, prefer stick types. But this one is actually worth the effort of unscrewing the lid and using a spatula (I hate putting fingers in products). Quite a reasonable price too for a largish container.
Maybe add the balm to your JH order, havana. It's delicious! |

I have and use both the pot and the stick camellia oil balm. The pot I use on my cuticles, elbows, and anywhere I need a bit of extra soothing emollient. The stick I reserve for my lips.
The bijou sheers I think already contain a lot of the camellia oil, but film noir does benefit from a swipe of the camellia oil first, particularly in cold weather. |

thanks for info, flitcraft. I didn't know the balm came in a stick. I see it on EDS now - must have been out of stock when I ordered earlier. |

Thanks for all the helpful input! I just received my first order of JH today and I love Kiki! What a totally wearable shade of pink. I have vibrant red hair (well, for now  ) and finding the right shade of pink has been challenging. I think Kiki might be it! I also got the Hue 004 lip liner and I can see wearing this with so many other shades. I'm now interested in the Film Noir...sounds beautiful and versatile. Say, has anyone found the Coco Noir to be a 'wearable' as advertised??? |

| Coco Noir is a highly pigmented matte shade of brick red. It's much more intense than the bijou sheers like Kiki, or even the sheer noir colors like Film Noir. Lots of people on the forum here have tried it and love it. Me, I'm too old (pushing 60) and my lips too thin (Did I mention I'm pushing 60?) for a matte red lipstick to work. So I stick to the sheerer ones quite happily. But hopefully someone with experience with Coco Noir will chime in here. |

Pinkleader - I would check the other Julie Hewett threads = I know various lippies were talked about extensively. I know cocoa noir is advertised as highly wearable but I can't remember having been inclined to buy it. On the JH site they discuss finding the "perfect red" for you so you may want to check that out.
I'm 50 and my lips are still naturally full - (hated them when I was young and they weren't "in" back then. But red is too garish for me anymore. Loved it in my 30's. Good luck. Glad you like Kiki. |

Coco noir is the only one I purchased and I hated it on me. It is very garish and I looked like a clown. It's bright red and matte which made that look worse for me. I'm mostly cool-toned but I really lean more towards neutral. Maybe I'm just too fair to pull it off.
I still really want to try Film noir, but these lippies are just too expensive for me to buy sight unseen, and I don't have a local dealer anywhere by me. |

| Thanks all! I did check out the JH website and reviewed that 'which red are you' page and was a little surprised that Coco Noir was the 'go to' colour. It does seem a little dramatic for most people and I think I might have to see it live to fall in love with it. I find it much easier to select lipstick colours online if they are sheer--it's just harder to go wrong I suppose. Thanks again... |

| If you are looking for a similar color to Coco Noir in the bijou sheer line, try Jules. Lovely warm deep terra cotta red, and quite sheer. Not really a spring-summer color, but I wear it a lot in fall and winter. |
