Horrid Bumpy Skin: Do you think Avene Cleanance will help?

I'm sad to say that I have had to abandon my favorite organic skincare for the time being as my skin as really turned into a bumpy mess, you know those flesh coloured ones that you cannot squeeze? To be honest the bumps have always been there and have been only been made worse by the recent hot weather we have been having in the UK. I really don't think that the Dr Hauschka products caused the bumps as they are more hormonal and for the time being I just need something a little more "active" to get deep into the skin and eliminate the bumps. I went to my GP about my skin and he has refered me to a Dermatologist as he thinks I may need Roaccutane or some sort of medical dermabrasion which sounds a bit extreme!
Anyway in the mean time I have decided to use more of a treatment line and was recommended by the pharmacist to use the Avene Cleanance Range I have used Avene products before found them to be good and relatively they are not too loaded with chemicals say compared to L'oreal for example. I have the soapless cleanser, the anti-shine toner, cleanance K treatment gel and the emulsion. I saw online that they have another product in this line called Diacneal with Retinaldehyde & Glycolic acid which looks like it could help but still I am wary of being too harsh with my skin. I have been using the Avene products for a couple of days now and am seeing some improvement in the texture of my skin as some of the bumps seem to be flattening out and shrinking so I think that the active ingredients in the avene products are helping to declog my skin, still it is early days yet. Would love to hear from others who have used this line or who have had similar bumpy skin issues and how you fixed it, did you find that Roaccutane helped if you tried it?

I think clindamycin, low-dose retin-a, and very very low maintenance skincare (think mild cleansers, basic moisturizers and suncreams) will work. you need to slough those bacteria-laden areas off gently and gradually and inhibit new bacteria from clogging your pores (clindamycin helps).
you may want to consider a rinseless cleanser like bioderma's, and pat the skin lightly wish rosewater (very calming) after you cleanse.

Thanks for the advice, here are some images of my skin at the moment. It is looking really bad, even worse than the pictures show. It is so blotchy, sallow and uneven. I am really upset about it. Do you think retin a or something like the Obagi system would be good?

It seems extreme that a derm would suggest accutane or dermabrasion before trying any topicals or even a shorterm oral antibiotic. I agree retin-a or tazorac and a topical antibiotic would probably help you alot. Possibly even finacea would help, it seems to help many with clogged pores.

Hi Girlie, Yes I think that dermabrasion would be a bit much as well, I have been on topical and oral antibiotics in the past and am not sure that these would help but Retin A might. I am not going to do anything now anyway until I see the dermatologist and see what they suggest. I will just avoid the mirror for a bit!
