I joined this forum several weeks ago but have nt been able to follow it the way I would like. ....So here is my problem: I am 41 yoa and have a terrible time with my face. I'm allergic to glycerin, aloe, microsoft cloths, possibly soda's, and of course when i am stressed out it makes the breakouts worse. When I say breakouts i dont just mean a few bumps; I'm talking oozing almost blister like places. its sooooo embarrassing....like leprosy!!!!!!
My husband and i have recently seperated and am VERY low on funds. I would love to know of some facials, toners, moisterisers, cleansers, etc. that i can make. No money for dermatologists not allergist. Also, the different oils (jojoba, grape seed, vitamin E, etc. are they actually made from that plant or do they have a glycerin base? Most soaps and cosmetics that you purchase from stores have glyercin in it unless you are willing to pay triple or quadruple the price. |

The oils mentioned are from the actual plant, and pure liquid castile soap is free of glycerin, but you sound as though your skin is highly reactive at this time, before trying anything test inside your elbow for 48 hours to make sure. I think saving up for a visit to a derm would be the best thing you could do.

Hi, sorry this is happening to you. Are you sure it is a glycerin allergy? Have you had any of these skin problems before? Have you had tests to assure you it is an allergy to glycerin?
Just asking because I have had some kind of eczema (with oozing and blisters) since I was a child, and it always seemed to come up worse on stress times, it didn't have anything to do with any allergy (had a whole lot of tests for allergy and although I did give positive on 'cobalt' it did not seem related at all with the situation).
Just about four years ago I had a very stressful time, long story... and my body -legs, arms, face, eyes,... everywhere! I came up with itchy oozing blisters! I was very embarrassed to go out then ... Spent nearly two months in my home without wanting to see anyone!
The situation actually made me steer to Bach essences and that seemed to help a lot somehow, as the skin reactions I have seem to be related to my own emotional well being.
Anyhow, sorry for the long answer, a good way to clean the face -with or without make-up- is the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM). Check it out around here, it is good. A good toner is the Apple Cider Toner.
And as far as I know, the oils mentioned do not have any glycerin in them at all. I personally usually use oils for moisturising, my favorites are grape seed oil, avocado and hazelnut. I specially like the hazelnut oil, but it is just a question of trying out which may be best for one... As, for instance, I usually apply the oil on a slightly damp face to keep the moisture of the water applied on the skin.
