I just tried the Pratime sunscreen, since it was on my sunscreen radar . This will be short and sweet. It has 18.6% zinc oxide, which is about the same as Keys Solar but more that Devita's 14%. It does not "feel" as nice as Devita but it *definitely* feels nicer than Keys. I got the body sunscreen because it's a better value- it's a 6 oz pump bottle for under 30$.
Basically of the sunscreens with high %'s of zinc oxide that I've tried so far this is the best.
Pratima Neem Vetiver Body Sunscreen:
Ingredients:Ionized water, micronized zinc oxide 18.6%, organic extracts of neem, licorice, imperata cylindrica extract, vitamin E, lecithin, organice essential oil of vetiver, xanthan gum. |

Nimue, thank you for the review
the high % of zinc oxide and the fact that it is not nano-zinc sound interesting.
what about white cast? does it leave any?
will it be suitable for oily skin?
have it caused breakouts or clogged pores?
TIA |

I can't promise that it's not nano sized. I didn't investigate that.
It doesn't have a white cast (but more than Devita does, if that makes sense). Definitely less of a white cast than Keys, or most sunscreens that are not Devita
I believe that it would be suitable for oily skin. I don't think it would be problematic for the skin, though I really can't speak from experience since I've only used it a couple of times.

thanks for the into Nimue
no luck for me with trying it - I had a look at their web-site and they have no online-shop active, I`m not even talking about international shipment.
may be EDS will carry it? ![Wink](images/smiles/wink.gif) |

You can order it from their website by telephone or this online store carries it http://www.vertla.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=VLA&Product_Code=316&Category_Code=Pratima |

Thanks for the review, Nimue!
Aiva, If you are going to use it on your face, you may also want to consider this one from Pratima:
Neem Rose Face Sunscreen 30 SPF
Ingredients: Ionized Water, Micronized Zinc Oxide 18.6%, Extract of Neem, Brahmi, Shatavari, Licorice, Vitamin E, Lecithin, Rose Essential Oil, Xanthan Gum
http://www.vertla.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD%26Store_Code=VLA%26Product_Code=316&Category_Code=Pratima
Vonstella did a little review of it here on the Pratima thread:

Thanks for the review Nimue! Just a couple questions: first, are you using the "body" one for your face? And is that still working (i.e. in terms of breakouts, etc.)?
Also, I am curious about how you find its "staying power." I know folks have talked in the past (I'm one of them) about Devita seeming too light for sweating in the summer. Do you find the Pratima at all different than that? (And I'm pretty psyched if it's better than Keys!) Thanks again--I love me some zinc. ![Cool](images/smiles/cool.gif) |

So I have an interesting Devita update for you, ladies. As you can see, I'm all concerned about the "staying power" of a nice cosmetic sunscreen--I fear that my sweating will render it useless. But I was "advising" a friend on sunscreens for her Caribbean vacation (she's fair with freckles like me). She got back yesterday, and the first happy report--no burns! But she actually put the Devita on first thing in the morning after washing her face, wore it clear through till mid-afternoon before she reapplied. And this is in the Caribbean sun, where she was outdoors the whole time. I'm thinking I might not need to be as worried about my mineral sunscreens here in "sunny" Pennsylvania. Though of course I'm still interested in Pratima! |

Hi KBLang, not Nimue, but in answer to your question, I don't find that the face Pratima sunscreen "sweats" off at all. In fact, I find it quite the opposite--more drying and matte. I *think* Vonstella described it similarly in her review.
In practical application, I will say that I've used it on my face while gardening six+ hours in the hot sun three weeks in a row now and have not received even a get a hint of colour on my face... I have Keys too and will see if I can contribute a comparison as Nimue has done. |

Be still my beating heart! Thanks so much for this review, havana8--that just might be perfect for summer! I like the level of coverage of Keys for the sweaty months, but it's very moisturizing for me... which I don't necessarily need in July! I think I'll definitely need to at least try this now. I'll report back when I do. |

I am using the Pratima body sunscreen on my face and I love it. Definitely no problems with breakouts. It is pretty matte and the staying power is good. Definitely nicer than Keys, but not nicer than Devita (although more matte). Devita just feels nice, but Pratima feels a tiny bit sticky to me.
This is my morning routine right now:
Eyes: Mix equal amounts of Pratima and Melashade in the palm of my hand, then apply to eye area.
Face: Pratima or Devita whatever I feel like wearing.
Neck/chest/etc: Devita.
Melashade is the equivalent of ZO's Oclipse sunscreen which I bought from lovelyskin.com. It's tinted and silicone based. The tint's too dark for me, but when I mix it with a physical sunscreen it dilutes the tint and looks good for the eye area. |

That's interesting that the body SPF is a tad sticky, Nimue. There isn't a hint of stickiness in the face version that I can detect and I've been using 3 pumps at a time. I am so tempted to try the Body for face use next time though as it really is much better value as you mention--6 oz for the body versus 2 oz for the face! |

I have recently started using the Pratima Neem Rose Sunscreen. It is an excellent product, applies nicely, no white cast, no sticky or tacky feeling and no burning near the eyes. One caveat - although it does not appear to have any added fragrance, for me, it is highly fragranced - just from the natural ingredients it contains. If you are sensitive to fragranced products, it may not be the best choice for you. |

I may be exaggerating the "sticky" factor. I tried the face version and it felt the same. For what it's worth, I consider Keys to be waaay more sticky than Pratima. Hahaha, I also use way more than 3 pumps at a time. More like 8! Well, maybe my pumps are smaller than yours (since I do them fast).
