Hi, just open my account here, seem fantastic place to talk about my problem.

From last two years i went many time the dermatologist, she gave me a cream asking, applied twice on the places of pigments.

After using the cream (made by medical store) no changes occur, in the end she said to me, she can't help me any more. It was strange experienced for me, could not imagine a doctor sitting in best Dutch hospital would say this.

I search Skin care centre, and last week made appointment and went there, on a phone they said the have treatment to remove the pigments from the skin, they had some kind of machine.

When i reached there, after small in-take the beautician said to me, because i have brown skin they will not perform pigment removal treatment.

What? that was first scram i heard in my heart. She was not agree to even have test performance. I left the beauty canter with sadness.

Today, i just wanted to search by myself.

Is it true the pigment removal process not applicable for brown/dark skin?
Is there no cream or solution remove those pigments which are visible many time, especially in summer.

I would be really thankful for your help.

Regards

Axper, could you tell us what nationality you are. From what I have read, darker skinned people normally have skin that has much less of a tendency to pigment. I also think that if you have darker skin, it would be very difficult to remove an even darker pigment without leaving white spots as that is the effect that most pigment removers have. Perhaps you could tell us a little more about your skin type and your age as dark spots can come with aging.

Hi bushy,

I bron from asian parents (Inidan) but migrated to Netherlands. I don't call my skin darker, but lighter like most Idian have from central of India.I am 34 years of age, the pigments were there from long time, before i did not care much, but since two years i really wanted to have clear face. Here in Netherlands i did went to many dermatologist but did not get much help from them.

The pigments are mostly on my face, very visible on middle of nose and upper end of the nose (under forehead). So two darker stripes are quite visible on my nose. Than there is another strip on my neck.

It is also on my hands fingers. None of my family nor mother or father side had pigments neither my siblings.

I would be really grateful for your help.

Thanks a lot.

Hi axper,
You may have hyperpigmentation or melasma. Sometimes this is a condition that is present when you were born. It can be made worse when you take birth control pills or hormones. Just like any other part of your skin, it darkens with exposure to sun. A lotion with hydroquinone may lighten area some. Laser will work, but, ask dermatologist if he/she has the.. q-switched ruby laser. This laser has a much better chance of not scarring skin..I hope this info helps...Suzy

You may benefit from doing the Obagi Nuderm regime. Do a search on the EDS board for Obagi to do some research about the process. Or go to the obagi nuderm website http://www.obagi.com/article/homepage.html for more information or to find a physician in your country who is knowledgeable about Nuderm. You can also ask Dr. Obagi questions on his skin care blog http://www.zoskinhealth.com/blog/ or do a virtual housecall with him using his mousecall system http://www.zoskinhealth.com/mousecall

Also using a good Vitaimn C product, one with l-ascorbic acid may help a little though will not completely get rid of your pigmentation.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about your dilemma. Sounds very frustrating. I can understand how you feel. Every woman likes to have clear beautiful skin. I guess that's why we're here on this forum. Very Happy I have some sun damaged brown spots on my face, too. I have olive skin, and have tried some laser treatments but I did not feel that they were helping me much. I think though if you go to the right doctor, perhaps Asian or one who specializes on Asian skin, you might have better luck. That said, I am using my own homemade pearl cream. (I can give you ingredients and recipe if you PM me - if you're interested. Exclaimer: I am not a very good DIYer, but this recipe is so easy, even I could do it.) I am noticing my spots are lightening, and the complexion overall is brighter. My friend just commented yesterday that she's seeing changes no my skin and she liked it. I also take the pearl powder internally with my coffee every morning. However I doubt it's the internal consumption of pearl powder that does the trick because I have just started taking that about 2 weeks. I heard that you have to be doing it for 3 months before you can get any benefit on the skin. I don't think it can hurt to try the pearl cream. If you like it, then it's easy to make, and the ingredients don't really cost that much. I just ordered pearl powder from an ebay seller who is all the way in China. I read her feedback especially those who bought the same pearl powder, and they all said it was high quality, and they would repurchase. So I feel pretty good about it. Anyway I hope you resolve your problem in anyway you can. I can tell it bothers you. Good luck.

Axper, there are some good suggestions above but there is a new line specifically for your skin type which may be of interest to you.
There is info on it at:
http://www.rxforbrownskin.com/about.asp

and the Dr Susan Taylor products are also sold at Skinstore:

probably you are right, i have hyperpigmentation, but went to couple of beautician here in Netherlands no one is ready to give laser pigment removal treatment. The law here in Netherlands quite strict, some people did find their way to Belgium or Balkan states. I just not fully ready to look treatment in those countries.

Thanks alot for your advice.
