Hi all,
Recently moved to Hong Kong from Boston. Having a hard time finding all my natural goodies, all these brands from local natural stores, Wholefoods, and others....Noticed there are quite a few gals are located in HK on this site, wondering if anyone can give me a pointer to where to look for my "Soul foods" here in HK. The so-call mini Wholefoods here (360) doesn't cut it for me. Please help.
Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Hey, diderot, welcome to HK! Hope you like it here.
As for your question, not sure I can help much unfortunately. You mean western type health food store items? As you've no doubt discovered, they're hellishly expensive in HK and not much range available, mostly at those "gourmet" supermarket places, like 360, Citysuper, Great, Olivers, blah blah... I really don't buy a lot of that stuff as it's just too expensive, and I can't be bothered running all over town hunting for something.
And..my experience is whenever I do find a product I like, it gets discontinued anyway...
One of the EDS ladies put me on to this place in Central, which is hidden away

Haven't been there in a while, but it may be worth a look.
On the other hand, if you're vegetarian and/or like soy/tofu products, there's a ton of different kinds available at the local markets and very cheap.
Hope someone else can give you some better info. If you do find a good spot, please let me know too |

Hi diderot!
I was there for four months and I found that CitySuper is close to Whole Foods/Capers. They've got a pretty good selection of imported foods. There are several locations but I usually frequented the one in New Town Plaza at Shatin.
As for a good bakery, I like the german bread from "Taste" which also has many locations such as at Kowloon Tong and Olympic Station. Taste also has good imported foods but not as many organic products as CitySuper.
Hope that helps! |

I also love the city and go there every once in a while. I've found the Health Quest store in Happy Valley to be relatively well stocked in healthy snacks, supplements, and natural as well as allergen-free skincare products from the US and Canada. HTH! |

I love HK! You can go check out sasa for all the great goodies and skincare lines from Japan and Korea. I always spend a bomb in there |
