Hi everybody! I'm planning to use PSF's BHA 5% together with Finacea to reduce the (extremely persistent) clogged pores on my nose.
I've been using Finacea for three weeks, applying it twice daily, so my skin has gotten used to it.
How should I add the 5% BHA? Did anybody already tried this? |

Hi, did you notice the instruction of their product? They suggest to use BHA 2% for sometime, then you can try 5%. I have odered PSF BHA 5% yesterday, and try paula's choice of BHA 2% for 2 weeks, which is good for blackheads of cause. My step is sk2 lotion-BHA 2%-EL ANR-NYR Cream. Hope this can help you. |

Here are the PSf instructions:
"After cleansing & toning, apply a few drops to affected skin & smooth out evenly with fingers. Avoid contact with eyes. If excessive dryness develops, discontinue use for a few days, then reintroduce product 2-3 times a week."

I would not layer them. PSF BHA has a high alcohol% and 5% is very strong.
You might want to stick with just using finacea for a few more weeks, it may be all you need. It takes a full 12 wks of use to get full results. |

If your cleanser does not have a pH similar to that of your skin (@5.5), wait about 20 min. then apply your BHA. Allow another 20-30 min. after applying this so the skin can return to normal, then apply your finacea. HTH! |

Since you bought the higher concentration BHA (5 percent) rather than easing in with the 2 percent, I suggest the following:
On one night in the week, omit Finacea and apply the BHA after cleansing (if you use a pH balanced cleanser otherwise there is a wait time as stated by another forum member above). Do bear in mind that 5 percent BHA in an alcohol base can sting badly. If there is stinging, wash it off earlier (maybe after about 5 minutes). It's not worth risking an acid burn by leaving it longer. You can increase the application time by 5 mins at a time until you reach 20 mins. And if you can tolerate the 20 mins, you can leave it on (no need to wash off). You can apply moisturizer or other skincare products after the 20 mins. Carry on with this "conditioning" of your skin to BHA for a month, then increase frequency to two nights per week and gradually increase according to your skin's tolerance. Do not be tempted to jump in too fast. An acid burn will take longer to heal and may also form a scar if you are too ambitious with the use of the BHA. |
