Hey all! I'm new here and this is officially my first post.
Let me share some relevant info with you, I'm 27.. tend to break out hormonally, blackheads on nose, chin and a few on pores.. dark hair and dark eyes, fair skin that tans easily.. combination skin being slightly dry in winter *extreme cold conditions up here* and slightly oily in summer.
Right now I'm using in AM & PM
Boscia Clear Complexion wash and toner
Peter Thomas Roth acne spot & area treatment
LUSH Vanishing Cream
Every second day I am using Mary Kay micro dermabrasion kit, both the scrub and serum. I'm really liking this and want to continue.
I want to use a different moisturizer as I am not liking the LUSH cream.
Also, I have Peter Thomas Roth glycolic acid 10% hydrating gel to work into my routine. I'm thinking that every second night starting December 27th would be okay and then the following week every night.
I've started this routine as of Monday, the 21st of December.
If anyone has pointers, suggestions or recommendations they could make I would very much appreciate it. I've been struggling with my skin for years and I would really, really love to get it to a point where I am no longer so self conscious about it. I want to minimize the severity and occurrence of breakout and improve the texture of my skin... and icing on the cake would be the disappearance of past acne scars.
Thank you!!! |

Have you thought of incorporating Retin A into your night routine? It can help clear skin and helps prevent wrinkles. Of course, you would need to wear a sunscreen during the day. |

MarieIG- No, I haven't considered Retin-A. Is it something that would have to be prescribed by a dermatologist? I would have to travel 6 hours to see a dermatologist.
chouchouzhang- all of the suggested usage I've seen for PTR acne spot & area treatment recommends AM & PM usage. It's been fine so far.
Wrinkles are not my main concern, having a clearer complexion is. I would like to find a moisturizer that would help with that as well as doing a great job at keeping my skin moisturized. |

Hi Hardrockmama,
I'm not sure what country you're from. Whether or not you need a prescription depends upon where you come from. Some of us in the US order from overseas to avoid that problem.
One of the things I use, and again, I'm not sure where you're from, are very cheap Stridex maximum strength, alcohol free pads. They have 2% salicylic acid (BHA) and help clean my pores clean. I use them after washing, when my face dries, sort of as a toner.
I haven't found the perfect moisturizer yet, I'm always afraid that something is going to clog my pores. Until you find one that you are completely satisfied with, I would not put your moisturizer on areas with black heads.
P.S. there are some good threads that you can search on the oil cleaning method (OC) for blackheads, as well as threads for retin A. |
