Or would a high quality cotton be better? |

Silk doesn't breathe well so it would be my last choice. Cotton would be better--- and I'd say that bamboo would be better still since it seems to discourage the growth of bacteria. |

I have a silk Pillowcase and I don't find it aggravates my acne prone skin. However I tend to sleep on my back so my hair gets most of the benefit. I think cotton is fine to. Best thing is just to make sure you wash what ever pillow case you use frequently.
I'll have to check out about the bamboo pillowcases, sounds interesting! |

I am acne-prone and I try to use cotton pillow cases with high thread count that are very smooth.. (or at least that's my excuse for buying lovely pillow cases!) I change them a few times a week, since hair products can get all over, as well as cat hair or someone else falling asleep on my pillow! |

Silk is probably better for breatheabilty compared to cotton. Its more better for you if you have long hair as it supposedly is smoother so your hair doesnt get roughed up. I put a towel on my pillow and change it every few days. It absorbs the oils etc... |

I read that Kim Kardashian and her whole family uses silk pillows.
I'm not sure how it is beneficial though |

I believe cotton is better for oily and prone to acne skin, because it is more absorbing and breathable material. |

My advice is whatever pillowcase you have. Change it every two or three days if you're break out prone. You can always flip it over a couple times as well. |

I have a silk pillowcase and I find it really uncomfortable to sleep on for some reason. I haven't noticed any change in my skin...though I didn't think I would. As others have said the most important thing is to change your pillowcase regularly. |

Hi Manslayerliz,
I totally agree. Silk makes the skin sweat, a huge negative in the treatment of acne. Cotton with a thread count between 200-400 is best. Lower and the cotton is too rough, higher and the cotton generates to much heat and friction.
It is suggested that similar guidance be applied to the selection of sheets for those who are acne prone. |
