This is my first post, and I want to thank everyone (especially Kassy!) for all the great information you've posted. I found this site googling Tanda, but now I seem to be sold on Lightstim. I'm 34 with some fairly stubborn adult acne on my chin. I'm not too worried about wrinkles yet, but I'd definitely like to prevent them. I have some redness on my chin (mostly small old acne marks) and some broken capillaries around my nose. I'd love to address all of these issues -- sadly, as others have noted, there's not much talk on this board about the acne light, but other boards mention success with other acne lights, and the 90-day guarantee makes me inclined to try it.

But -- I'm not sure what the difference is between the acne and rosacea lights. I'm wondering if there might be any reason to go for the rosacea light, even if I don't think I have it? I'm also wondering if either of those lights have anti-aging effects, or if I'd have to get one of those and the anti-aging light. Two lights are quite expensive -- Tanda would provide both for about $150 less. Of course, there have been no extensive reviews about Tanda, so I'm less inclined to go that way.

Anyway, any advice would be appreciated, along with any information on how to access the EDS discount for LightStim? Do I just have to call rather than ordering online?

Thanks again ...

Let's see if I can make this short and sweet.. Laughing

1. First of all welcome to the forum, and the land of LED lunacy ...

2. The Acne light has blue/red/infrared diodes, and would cover all of your basis.. I will tell you up front, that broken caps respond to treatment, but it's over the long term.. (perhaps because of the blue medical grade wavelength, it will be quicker, but I'm not sure.)

3. My niece uses the LS Acne LED and her extremely severe cystic acne/scars had what I would consider 60% improvement over a years course of *sporadic* treatment... She didn't make it a priority, so didn't get the best result.. (Active acne must be treated daily or every other day in order to kill the bacteria..That is the fact of the matter.) As for scarring, I don't believe any LED will get rid of it on it's own, and would suggest you learn all about using it in conjunction with Copper Peptides, for complete skin renewal..

3. I couldn't tell you off hand what the differences of the Acne and Rosacea lights are, but would encourage you to use the contact info at http://www.lightstim.com to ask that and other questions precisely.. (What I will do is have a look at the write up on each light for you, and post later if I come up with anything..

4. As far as I know the 10% discount for EDS members is ongoing. Just be sure to advise somebody that you are a member of EDS when/if you place an order.

5. From the little I saw about Tanda, I believe people were happy with the results, but weren't crazy about the battery life.. You should do a search for more info before making up your mind.. You have many choices when it comes to LED's..

In closing I would only add that I believe all the wavelengths offered in the LS Acne LED, which include medical grade diodes, is the best available at this time.. Studies are indicating that there is a synergistic effect with red + blue diodes used together.. And the infrared is more icing on the cake! And like you said, you have 90 days to decide, which is a no brainer in my humble opinion..

Hope that helps, and welcome!

Thanks Kassy. I talked to Steve today (he returned my message on a Sunday!) and I ordered the acne light. Very excited to see how it works. I may want the AALS as well, if the blue light really works, and I'll be annoyed to miss out on the discount they are offering for combining them, but I think it's best to start with one light at a time, and see how it goes. I suppose you could use them at the same time, but I don't think that would work very well for me -- I want to be able to read or use the computer. Also, I want to be able to isolate the effects.

I told you the customer service was great! I had a call from Steve today as well.. Laughing I wrote an email to LS last night trying to get the Rosacea light info for you..

Not that it matters now, but for anyone else it might help, the difference of the Rosacea light is that it is especially designed to operate at room temperature, so it doesn't cause a flareup of Rosacea.. And the other thing is that it only be used by folks diagnosed with Rosacea, and should be used in conjunction with "RejuveRX" for maximum results..

It's smart of you to just use the one light for now.. It could very possibly be the only one you need... If down the road you decide to get a 2nd, I'm sure those lovely folks will still honor the 2 light purchase..

Please be sure to be well hydrated with water before and after your treatment, use nice healing beneficial products, and by all means take plenty of pictures before you begin, and every few weeks thereafter..

Good luck, and don't hesitate to join in with your questions or comments..

Chances are you'll be running into me at every turn, because I think I'm the biggest fan of LED's this forum has ever seen... Laughing Laughing Laughing

ETA: One more thing, do not apply any products with any form of Vitamin A before treatment.. The light will degrade it.. Also, nothing occlusive, which would not allow the light to penetrate.

Well, it just arrived! I've tried it on my chin so far. It does get pleasantly warm and toasty. I barely glanced at it sideways, though, and I was seeing blue for a few minutes, so I'll have to make sure not to do that anymore!

Anyway, I'm very hopeful for some good results. I probably will only need to use it on my chin and forehead, so if it does work out, there might be time to use the AALS as well. Not to provide TMI, but if only I could realistically use it on my back! (Although I've found that MD Skincare Body Peel system does wonders for my back break outs.)

I have to admit, I didn't notice any difference really. And I lost track of when to return it, so now I'm stuck with it. It didn't cause any harm, but it didn't seem to help my particular type of acne.

Have you used it religiously (say 5 days a week), for 5 minutes per spot on the outbreak areas? If you haven't done that, it won't kill the bacteria that are causing the acne.. Crying or Very sad

It can be a PITA in the beginning, because it really takes a committment, but the good thing is; it works, if you work it!

According to your previous post in January you have just passed the 90 day mark by about a week, why don't you give Steve or Joniann a call at LS, and ask them if they can still take it back..

At the very least, they may offer you a swap for the Anti-Aging model instead..

Why did you wait so long, when it hasn't worked well for you?

I read somewhere about a certain type of acne causing bacteria, that are resistant to LED treatments.. Hopefully that isn't your case.. Sad

good idea -- I don't know why I let time get away from me like that, it was dumb. The press of events, I guess ...

The acne LightStim worked very well on my cystic acne. I also use it to zap anything I feel starting up. Nip it in the bud, so to speak. Right now I have only 2 fading blemishes and nothing else anywhere on my face. This is a total turn-around for me. I originally purchased it for my 19 yr old son but I use it as well. His skin looks great!

Did you place the LS right on your skin? I heard that you have to do that for it to be effective.

Thanks for the updates, Milbader and Smgord! I guess this just goes to show how everybody's skin responds differently to the same things... Doubt Anyways, Smgord, I'm sorry to hear you haven't found anything to fix your acne yet. I'm on the same quest as you and I wholeheartedly understand your frustration. Sad Good luck!

I'm thinking of getting the acne and aging models this summer when I can afford it. I'll post my results.
