I really don't know. Are the tweezers and other things really better than plain, old regular tweezers?

| i think initially the tweezerman tweezers are sharper and more accurate than most tweezers... but it dulls overtime... however there is a lifetime guarantee on all tweezerman products... |

And you can send them in for free sharpening. I love mine, once you use them you will never go back to cheap tweezers. Ive had my pair for over 4 years now.
I use the regular slanted tip. |

| Hmmm. That's interesting. I "do" permanent makeup and I always tweeze my clients eyebrows. If they're more accurate, I definitely need them. |

no seriously. they are effing amazing. whenever I end up at someone else's house and try and do my eyebrows with revlon tweezers I just cringe. They just grab the hairs much much better so you can get them when they're shorter.
I great set is the "mini" set with the slant and the point end -- they're really not much smaller and a great price. |

| I like the Laura Mercier tweezers made by Tweezerman. The grippinger part is bigger and has the same lifetime sharpening. |

I have heard that Rubis are actually better so I might invest in those if I lose my tweezermans. |

I love these tweezers! I use to buy the cheaper ones and had to buy several because they weren't very effective picking up super fine hairs. After getting the Tweezerman petite set, I don't need to look for another set of tweezers.  |

I had some Rubis tweezers years ago and loved loved loved them. I kept them hidden so nobody would use them for other things. Well they found them and sure enough they did ruin them. I think they used them for building model airplanes. I had to revert to tweezerman because I could not find the Rubis let alone remember the name of them. I am going on line and order right away and give my tweezerman to my HB and let him use them for whatever he wants to. The Rubis will be out of sight-out of mind. Thanks for posting about Rubis. |

I had a pair of Tweezersmans many years ago, but I stopped using them because half the time they would cut off the little brow hairs at the base before I got a chance to pluck them and it drove me fug buck.
Fast forward ten years, and I’m looking for a new pair of tweezers to replace my drugstore brand so I come looking at MUA to see what was what. Based on all of the overwhelmingly positive reviews on MUA, I immediately went out that afternoon and bought a pair of pink (breast cancer awareness) Tweezermans at my local Sallys Beauty.
I swear, I must’ve been suffering from selective amnesia, because I had totally forgotten my previous experience with this brand! Sure enough, when I got home and started attacking my seriously overgrown eyebrows, not to mention the five evil little black chin hairs (ladies, if you don’t have them yet, don’t be too smug because I guarantee one morning you’ll wake up and find that they’ve sprouted from your chin virtually overnight!!) with my new prized purchase, on just about every other grasp, the damn things immediately began severing the hair off at the skin when I went to grab it, and I remembered why I stopped using my old Tweezermans in the first place.
The thing is, the Tweezermans are rather like me: when they’re good, they’re very, very good, but when they’re bad.... I dunno, maybe it’s just my hair-pulling technique. Does anyone else have this problem?
Maybe I’m just being to damn particular, but really – is it too much to ask that a pair of tweezers not slice the hair off at the base before I can pluck it out????
IMHO, the tweezers from Anastasia of Beverly Hills (lash plucking guru to the stars) put the much bally-hooed Tweezermans to shame, period. I always thought I did a good job keeping my brows neat and clean, but one day I went outside in direct sunlight with the 10x magnification mirror and was shocked and horrified by just how many straggly hairs I saw. No matter how short the hair was, or how thin and fine, the Anastasia Tweezers grabbed every single hair, every single time, with nary any breakage that would leave me with the dreaded black "spots" on my browline like the Tweezermans invariably would.
They’re expensive (around $25USD I believe), but a great investment. With reasonable care, they’ll last for years. Dear Patty,
I've been a rubis devotee my entire life, and I have three different pairs. In my opinion, if you keep them away from Emma's model-airplane-building kids, they will last you forever without needing to be sharpened. Nevertheless, they are my personal tweezers and I never let anyone play with them unless they have a piece of glass stuck in their toe. In return, I'm really good at shaping other people's brows so I offer it with my beloved rubis to my friends and family.
A while ago, one of my roommates in nyc bought a pair of expensive tweezermans, and I tested them out. I was appalled at how sharp they were--they not only nicked my skin, they also cut off the hairs before i even had a chance to pull them out! this particular pair of tweezers went from too sharp too too dull in a matter of months. I cannot even understand why they are so popular, unless you go from drugstore tweezers to tweezerman.
the difference between rubis and tweezerman is mainly one of precision: tweezermans are like little blades, and rubis are like finely honed, precise tweezers that can tweeze even the finest, hardest to get hairs. I recommend the combo needle slant kind; I have very fine hair that grows waywardly around my eyebrows and these work magic.
I would never let anyone get near me with a pair of tweezermans!
I;ve also heard that anastasia's tweezers are even better than rubis, but I've never tried them.

ETA: Patty: I tweeze my friends and sister's brows regularly with rubis two-tip tweezers, and they have never failed me for the last 15 years. I also represented makeup artists in nyc and in la for several years, and these were the tweezers of choice, no question about it, for all the makeup artists... but this was before Anastasia, so hers may indeed be as good or even better! |

Speaking of tweezers....
Does anyone else keep a pair in their car to tweeze stray hairs when stopped at traffic lights? “No CareKate, it’s only you!” I guess it’s because it’s broad daylight, but I swear I can spot stray hairs in my review-mirror when I’m in my car that weren’t there the previous morning when I was checking them out in my bathroom mirror!
In my defense, I’d like to point out that tweezing my brows at stop-lights isn’t as heinous as men who appear to be picking their nose...although perhaps they’ve also keep a pair of tweezers in their glove-box and they’re merely plucking their nose hairs?! |

just kidding!
no, i pluck only when the stray hairs get really bad, I'm pretty bad about it. i have not had much direct natural light in my past three apartments for the past 8 years, so I've learned to not care if I have, say, sprouting wayward hairs in between my eyes or a streak of unblended blush on my skin... i just hope no one thinks i am a freak! I am totally going to be one of those geriatric ladies with uneven swaths of magenta blush and eyeliner only on one eye when I'm older... and lots of cats.
