Hi, everyone. This is only my second post, so it is about the skin issue that concerns me most at the present time.
Having just lost 50 pounds I am looking for THE BEST method of firming up loose thigh and butt skin. I carried most of my excess weight in my legs and hips, so it is worse than you might think, but I don't particularly want to have a surgical thigh lift (although I am thinking of Smart Lipo....). Is this necessary? Are there simpler, cheaper, and less painlful methods? Topicals? I am not sure if this is cellulite or what. |

You might want to try No Lipo Lipo DVD first. DVD is only $40. I really like it, but I'm more fat than loose .

also look on YouTube for some videos of it. |

Do you do weight training? Squats, lunges - they will help make that area look better. |

Thanks to both of you. I have lost the weight now, and there are some pretty tight muscles under there somewhere. I don't have the patience for much of an exercise routine, but i do power walk for 45 mns to an hour every day, and about three times a week I bike for an hour, too. But the musculature is not visible at all because of the skin. |

I'm not suggesting this as your only remedy, but can you tolerate fish? Look at the Perricone diet, it may help. It does take a few months after a weight loss for the sking to tone up. |

I didn't know loose skin would tighten up after a while. I know many do after pregnancy but for long-term weight and then loss I always thought you had to have the skin pulled up due to long term stretching. Even after pregnancy many people are never the same - tummy tuck here we come!
I would give it time for a transition - and a good diet will help.
I do squats and lunges for keeping thighs and butt lifted -nothing better. Biking is great for thighs though. |

Amity,
I think you do a lot of cardio which is great for your weight loss. But now, you can start replacing 2 of your cardio days with weight training exercises. Squats and lunges, adductor and abductor exercises, hamstring curls and leg extensions. You may consider working with a personal trainer to at least get you started. You can also google some leg exercises. Congratulations on your weight loss! |

I have good well developed muscles. I can definitely feel them, even though I can't see them! And I don't want to spend precious time working out when I can exercise and have fun at the same time biking, hiking, etc. (I have two jobs, so spare time is precious!). I don't think the muscles are the problem. It is the skin. Would like to tighten the skin if possible.
I think the radiofrequency machine looks interesting and do wish people would come back and report again after six months of experience with these things and rate them! |

I have been using the Stop for the face for five months and my skin has tightened. I started the Pose and have only done a couple of treatments but it looks promising.

I have found lunges and squats using a gym ball are best for toning thigh muscles.
A few years ago, I read that Jennifer Lopez uses a specific regime on the treadmill for tight thighs and buns.
10mins: warm up @ 0 incline
1min: @ level 1
1min: @ level 2
1min: @ level 3
...............
...............
...............
1min: @ level 10
1min: @ level 9
1min: @ level 8
1min: @ level 7
...............
...............
...............
1min: @ level 1
10mins: cool down @ 0 incline
I always stretched muscles for 30 seconds following aerobic exercise. A selection of muscle stretches can be found online.
I did this three times a week and was delighted at the definition and firmness after 12 weeks. |

Unfortunately, I must admit, I have not been to the gym for eight months. I have undone all my hard work!!! |

aromatic massage might help. Try some essential oils with skin tightening effects. I also think yoga and pilates might help either. |

Dear Amity,
IT IS POSSIBLE TO TIGHTEN THE SKIN!!! Carole Maggio's No Lipo, Lipo and her sissal louffas work to tighten and tone the skin of the body. Believe me, at perimenopause (me), you definitely need help in that department!! I wouldn't have believed it had I not tried it for myself. My skin looks awesome now! She also sells a body mask that tones and tightens and lifts the skin of the body. You can use to spot treat too. The No, Lipo Lipo DVD is awesome. I spot treated my thighs in 10 treatments at home. The only exercise I do is bike riding and walk/run with my dog and light weights for my arms. There is no need to invest in gadgets or expensive procedures. Her products and techniques are the real deal. She is absolutely AMAZING! I was so impressed I started a blog about her atwww.aprilevesblog.blogspot.com. Go for it ~ you won't be disappointed! Take good care, Aprileve |
