I've had a monroe (or madonna, I think they're called)peircing - between lip cheek and nose - for ten years, and only kept it for the last five due to the size of the hole it left when I removed it. UGLY!! I'd been reading a lot on scar revision with skin bio CP's, and have been using them, along with a microfibre cloth. I've had complete success moving an enormous ugly mole from my cheek using them. Bolstered with the results of my mole experiment, I decided to go about getting rid of the rather large hole, (a result of having to wear quite a large gauge jewellery) which I'd been sporting for the last couple of months. I researched how they remove these types of scars at the plastic surgeons, and found that they scour the inside of the scar with a metal scourer of some description, and then let it reheal... I decided I could just as well do it myself with my microfibre cloth and cps.
I was right! I went at it by stretching out the hole and using my microfibre cloth to give it a bit of a vigorous scrub, followed by daily application of cps. It turned all scabby for a few days, but now the scab has fallen off and revealed a tiny little hole, hardly larger than a regular pore! I'm so thrilled!
I may have one more go at it, and after that, I'm positive it will be entirely gone. I'll let you know. I hope this helps someone else with a legacy of bad nineties looking peircings!

Excellant work! Are you able to describe how you enlarged the hole? |

CPS is copper peptide serum from Skin Biology. If you do a search you will find plenty of threads on EDS.
I didn't deliberately enlarge the hole in my face! It's just that facial piercings require quite a large gauge (thickness of jewellery), so that the skin 'accepts' the piercing. |

oh yes!! Calorblind, I should have taken one aimed right at the hole.... truth was, I wasn't sure I'd be able to heal it without surgery.
Fortunately (or unfortunately, however you look at it) my husband takes millions of pictures of me with a high quality camera, so I bet that seeing it's been out for a couple of months, there's a pic I can zoom in on.
I'm so thrilled with my latest attempt at healing it. It's now half the size, and you can see that the sides of the scar have adhered to eachother, because the hole is more like a tiny vertical slit now.
Oh! You know what? I definitely have plenty of pics of the huge mole on my cheek that I removed the same way.
Give me some time though to dig through things and work out how to do it. I'll be away for a couple of days, so I'll try to do it when I come back. |

I am excited to see your pictures for I have started to look up the Copper Peptides. I wouldn't be using this daily, for it isn't good on young (yes, I am young) skin. But I am considering doing a few series of TCA Peels and I believe that this will help a few of my chicken pox and hyper-pigmented acne scars.
Please post asap! |

Just thought I'd update, and let everyone know that I may have gotten a little too excited with the preliminary results of my scar removal After the scab was fully off, I realized it's not 'removed' as such. The hole is smaller and not as bad looking, but as the peircing went through many layers of muscle and skin, I think it's going to take more than one go at it. And I may still be left with a dimple... aaaaargh! I'm going to keep trying with it, and see if I can get some better results. I'll take some pictures today, and keep working on it over the next few weeks/months. As it's reduced in size, and adhered to itself a few layers down, I think it's possible. |
