I discovered this ingredient for the first time yesterday. Is anyone here familiar with it and do you think it's important to use a product that includes this? I'd also like to hear positives or negatives from anyone who has tried something with it. |

I haven't used any of those products, but I am pretty sure that the brand Sircuit Skin is big on them. |

Hope this helps you understand Spin Traps:
1) Spotlight On Spin Traps - Phenyl Butyl Nitrone (from Futurederm dot com)
Every once in a while, a skin care ingredient comes along that I am really excited about. That is the case with spin traps, also known as phenyl butyl nitrone. According to Dr. Cheryl Burgess’ Cosmetic Dermatology, spin traps are a ‘new’ form of antioxidant that have the ability to catch an electron as it spins out of control and actually returns it to its normal orbit before it can do any damage. In other words, catching a free radical before it is free to do damage! According to Cosmetic Dermatology, the protective abilities of spin traps comes from their modulation of proinflammatory cytokines.
Spin traps have been shown to prevent free radical induction in the substantia nigra (a portion of the brain) in rats, according to Neuroscience Letters. Numerous studies by Dr. J. Carney and his associates, including this 1996 study in Radiation Research, have shown that phenyl butyl nitrone has anti-inflammatory and age-reducing effects.
2) Spin Trap The Intelligent Antioxidant (from skincareresourcecenter dot com):
Spin Trap is a recent addition to the facial rejuvenation options for the treatment of aging skin issues.
Promising preliminary research suggests that spin trap can produce significant skin rejuvenating results.
Spin trap is described as an intelligent antioxidant.
It amazingly transforms skin damaging free radical activity into productive regenerative activity by trapping and detoxifying free radicals.
As Riley has noted, Sircuitskin Cosmeceuticals has a lengthy explanation available on their official website (sircuitskin dot com / spin_trap)

web site about the products, general idea there is a "better side" of each molecule and they separate it from the less effective side and use it. All products are cruelty free and don't contain parabens ect. I am too sleepy to really read it all, and I really simplified what I picked up reading quickly about the brand. I would need to really spend a good deal of time checking it out. Click the link when you have the time for a read!

I've tested most of the Sircuit Skin products and wasn't too impressed. I did like the molecular mist and the scrub. The molecular mist could almost be used as a moisturizer. Another product that has a beneficial level of Spin Trap is PSF's Berry Beneficial. It also has green tree extract. I've used a sample of it and liked it. |

Thanks, jom. I have never used any of the Sircuit Skin products. Good to know that you weren't impressed though! |

I tried samples of some of the YBF products, and I did not think they were worth much, Skippie. Very expensive, as well. |

I tried samples of two of the YBF products and didn't think they were all that great either. One of them was the eye cream that is raved about on TIA. |
