I currently have obagi clear 3, obagi exfoderm 4, obagi blender 5, and rentin a .05%. For advance users of obagi.. do I really need to use both the 3 & 5 together for my face to peel? Or can I just use 3 or 5 with retin A? Any advise? Please help... |

Hi Ambertram,
In order to get the best results, you need to use all of the Obagi products. So, in answer to your question, you need to use both clear and blender (with retin a). Use Clear both a.m. and p.m. and then blender/retin a in the evening only. Good luck! |

Yes, you need both products. The Blender will help in the deeper layers of your skin, and helps the Retin A penetrate deeper. The Clear is more for surface. |

If you use the clear, and blender at night with RA, i feel for myself, that is too much, bleaching of skin, i use clear in mornings, and blender with renova at night, seems to work well, for me. ![Cool](images/smiles/cool.gif) |

Hi Ambertram,
I use the Exfoderm because I really believe it helps exfoliation and refining skin texture. I really believe that if you want the optimal results that you need to use all the Nuderm products and also use the recommended amount.
If you don't mind my asking, what skin issues are you trying to address and how long have you been using Obagi? |

Are you under the care of a derm/nurse? I am not quite sure I would be using these products if I had rosacea. This is a very harsh system. |

Here is a link for Obagi Roseclear specificaly for rosecea as well as Pustules, acne like pimples. I think it would be a good sight for you to read. As Riley said this is harsh, so your best bet is a system designed for all your skin issues.

No I'm not under a care of a derm/nurse. I've been reading posts and thread on the forum which made me feel that I need obagi for my problems. I started Obagi yesterday and my skin is already peeling today. I think you are right about this being a little too harsh. I'll look into the rosacea line. Thank you. |

You are welcome!
I don't want to see you do more harm than good by using a system not intended for the sensitivity issues you have with the rosacea.
Good Luck

AmberTram,
What have you decided in regards to the Obagi lines? Have you had a chance to to look into the rosacea products? I just have to reiterate what a few of the others have said about the Obagi Nuderm system being rather harsh. I have pretty tough skin but it just about took its toll on me too. I'm just about to head into the maintenance phase of the program and still wake up once in awhile with redness and flakiness!
Definitely do your homework and research to find the right system for you and your skin! Good Luck! ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

I'm still searching... I want to use something less harsh. Maybe a japanese line. like a whitener.. you think that will work with rosacea? |

Amber,
I am agreeing with Keliu and everyone who is telling you how harsh this is. With any type of sensitivity of your skin I would recommend checking out any unknown product with a good Derm first! You really don't want to experiment. Please keep us posted.
Good Luck

i was on here a about a few weeks ago, when i started using obagi for the first time, i used it with out retin a, but then i used it with retin a and my whole face peeled was nice after the skin healed, but then when i reapplied the retin a after it healed im left with worse hyperpigmentation than when i started the obagi and retin a, this is well weird has anyone else had this experience? please share, im nearly 28 and have stopped using retin a but still continue to use obagi products because i need some strong bleach to rid this new hyperpigmentation its almost all my face is a good 3shades darker than to begin with, with some patches being 5shades darker, especially on the chin area and sides of my forehead, -somebody please tell me if i use obagi clear alone without retin a and without the blender will i still see any benefits of whitening the skin? because thats my main concern now i really hate the smell and texture of the blender it dosnt rub in properly and smells like vinager-the clear is much nicer and easily absorbed, basically im asking if i stick with the clear and nothing else will i still lighten my skin tone? |

Sophie,
Are you making sure to use sunscreen daily? What kind are you using? Also, how long have you been using Obagi (I can't recall from your earlier posts.) |

Hey Sophie,
Have you had your skin checked out by a derm? I know you had a terrible time with retin a and maybe your face is showing signs of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It might be a good idea to get a derm's opinion before restarting Obagi or any other system.
In regards to sunscreens, I've found that it's very important for me to use a physical one rather than a chemical one. I am using NIA24 and it works quite well. |
