I am trying to decide between ordering Intensity 1 for Light or Intensity 2 for Medium. Is anyone using this in either of those two shades? Just wondering how light the Light is and/or how light/dark the Medium is...

Hi,
I ordered the medium, and I must say, finally found a med. Usually when I order Med. it is way too light for me.
It seems to be right on the mark for color.
If you are fair, and usually wear fair foundations, go with the #1 intensity, but if you are more into the medium shades, then go #2.
I have light to med. skin, blue eyes, so 2 works great for me.
Also it is not shiny, so it blends well.

Here are the ingredients of the Ora mineral makeup:
Mica, titanium dioxide, boron nitride, bismuth oxychloride, zinc oxide, superoxide dismutase and catalase and apple extract, horseradish, phospholipids, retinyl palmitate, tocopheryl acetate, butylene glycol, green tea extract, lavenedar, sandalwood, geranium, ylang ylang patchouli, rosemary, sage, cedarwood, palmarose, may contain iron oxide and ultramarines.

I've used the #1 Ora, and it is fairly neutral beige in tone and surprisingly, not all that light. It wouldn't work for palest complexions, but it is just barely in my range, as a fairly fair person. Unfortunately, I didn't really like it much. It's quite sheer in coverage, and if you layer it, I found it cakey and obvious. I think perhaps it is not as finely milled as some mineral makeups. Also, the beige tone didn't look particularly natural on me. Obviously, if the color is better for you, then you might like it more.
Keep in mind in considering my review that mineral makeups are pretty hit and miss for me. I have dryish skin with my share of post-50-year-old fine lines. I've tried quite a few brands, and find some too shiny, others too matte, and all too drying for the winter. Probably my overall favorites have been the old school Jane Iredale, Laura Mercier, and one of the Lumiere formulations--I forget which. But for the most part, I find myself using them sparingly on top of tinted moisturizer to take down the shine from them rather than on their own. I'm so jealous of all the folks who report that they have found a mineral makeup that is the perfect answer to their foundation needs. Those reports encouraged me to try a lot of products for a couple of years, but I've kind of given up now. |
