Hey everyone!
QQ, I have yellow discoloration around my upper lip area...like a yellow mustache, and then I also have it all over my chin as well. My face is really pale, so it looks really odd. I use concealer, but I hate wasting so much money on it  and plus my skin is really sensitive and too much cosmetic products break me out.
I'm using Retin A for acne and premature aging. My doctor gave me 0.1% strength. I'm using it around my mouth...even though I'm not supposed to. I just thought it might help...but I'm done month 2. And the discoloration is still there.
Does anyone know of any inexpensive creams that I could use? And if that doesn't exist, sigh*, what are my options? I'm at my wits end...I just want it to gooo away!!

| I'd check back with your derm or doctor. It may be a symptom of something else. Better safe than sorry. |

I'd say it is a little melasma. I still have a hint of it even though mine is largely cleared.
You need to consider that you are getting adequate sun protection. Are you on a contraceptive pill? This caused it everytime for me! An excess of estrogen is the biggest cause.
Once you get rid of the cause...you should be able to clear the colour with peels/retin A etc

I sort of know what you mean! I used to have some odd coloring like that around my mouth. After using Alpha Beta Peels by MD Skincare and Estee Lauder serum (concentrate I prefer by far!) I don't see it anymore...
I wonder what it's caused by, Of course now I have a little faint moustachio from bcp. I hope you get it sorted out, I think you can!! |

| duckduck, have you ever used accutane? Just curious, as I have seen a few people who used that and the area around their mouth has a yellowish discoloration. |

| I have the same thing too, and I've found that monthly AHA peels keep the problem in check. HTH! |
