I have used OBAGI for 10+ years (on/off), and now on maintenance, I wonder if any OBAGI will experience the same as me? I found my skin is very oily in summer and super dry in winter. It is quite embarrassing when people reminding me that I have flaking skins, specially around my mouth.
As I am now using 2X-3X OBAGI a week, I am using La Colline hydrated line for the other days.
My question is : OBAGI tends to make me peel, which offers a radiant result. Will OBAGI be less effective if I am using a hydrated product? |

I would think it would still be effective as long as you are only using the moisturizer when your skin truly needs it (and I know most people need something in the winter). |

Hi Critic,
My skin sounds similar to yours: very oily in the summer (even when using all Obagi Nuderm products) and drier (almost "normal") in the winter time. I'm also on maintenance at this point and still get a little flaky from time to time -- especially around my mouth and jaw line. I'll use a little Aquaphor or Eucerin on these areas to combat the dryness but I don't use any moisturizer all over my face. I think that using a moisturizer intermittently won't diminish the effects of Obagi since you are on maintenance. |

I have also used Obagi and am on maintenance for about a year and from time to time I will have flakes around my mouth and chin mostly in the winter. I use a DIY serum which does not the bad stuff in it and also wait an hour after I apply the retin a so it bother the R/A.Like Rileygirl said only when you need it. |

Just out of curiosity, why is the flaking worst around the mouth? I experience this too (I'm only on my 4th week though) |

blueeyes, it is from all the movement in that area - talking, laughing, eating, etc. The mouth area of your face moves more than anything else and this is always a persons worst area for the flaking! |

That sort of makes sense, Rileygirl, but shouldn't that be the area where you stop peeling first then since it's "out with the old, in with the new" ?
Still it seems like this is the area where people peel for "months" (God, I hope to avoid that since I'm starting week 5 soon and have started peeling again after a week with great skin..) |

No, I don't think that would be the area where you would stop peeling first. It is constantly moving, and if someone is sensitive to RA or HQ, then they will continue to peel there. How much you peel and for how long is just very individual! |

Rileygirl,
Btw, your tip on waiting 20-30 mins on putting on tretinoin cream after washing the face made a huge difference! |
