I bought this a little while ago because I was having scalp issues.
Offical Description: This non-greasy lotion contains Burdock, which is known for its calming and healing effect. Burdock Hair Lotion has a stimulating effect, making it excellent for scalp problems.
Balding users have reported 'hair raising' results! (from Saffron Rouge website)
Usage: Massage into dry or wet hair and scalp. Do not rinse. Dry hair gently.
Size & Price: 50mL / 1.7fl oz; $34.00 CAD
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Herbal Extract Mixture from Arctium Lappa (Burdock), Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow), Petroselinum Crispum (Parsley), Artemisia Absinthium (Wormwood), Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut), Rosmannus Officinalis (Rosemary), Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail), Alcohol, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Juice, Glyceryl Cocoate, Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Lactic Acid, Wine Yeast Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Ascorbic Acid, Biotin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Linalool, Limonen
My Comments: The smell is herbaceous yet sort of medicinal and the texture is very watery and astringent-like. It comes in a dark brown glass bottle with a plastic insert in the neck of the bottle which allows you to shake the liquid out. It's basically like a bigger essential oil bottle.
As far as ease of use, I just realized now that I probably missed the point of the lotion which is to massage it into the scalp AND hair. I was trying to use it on my scalp only and found the application a bit difficult precisely because it *is* non-greasy as mentioned in its description--there is definitely no slip. I did not like the way my hair felt after it dried. I did not care for the way it made my hands feel after applying it to my head--tight and dry, kind of like when you use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Come to think of it, that's how my hair felt too!
Anywhoooo... Did it help my scalp issues? Not so much, nor was there a lot of healing and calming down going on. For me, it seemed to have the opposite effect. Still, I am glad I tried it as I have been wondering about it.
Conclusion: While it may be perfect for someone else, it was a definite miss for me and it is unlikely that I would re-purchase.
I have half a bottle left. I wonder if I could convert it into something else? |

Thanks for posting this review. I was looking at this product to see if it might help with my my hair -- I think it's thinning. I will hold off or skip this product altogether since I also need moisture for my hair and I'm concerned this would make it look or feel dry. |
