Question for you all ----

Do you apply moisturizer after your retinol at night?

I use Tazorac which I love and has kept me wrinkle free forever. But because of the winter, my skin is much drier and constantly peeling. I want to use a moisturizer on top of my Tazorac but I'm not sure if it's a good idea because the point of retinols is to exfoliate but if I apply moisturizer, isn't it just preventing it from exfoliating?

The other thing is my non-comedeogenic moisturizer of choice is Oil of Olay Age Defying Night Cream which has beta hydroxy which also exfoliates, albeit at a much gentler pace.

But beta hydroxy on top of a retinol? Too Much? What say ye?

I apply moisturiser after Retin A around my eyes every night after half an hour. I apply it also on my neck sometime, not every night - when I have feeling that my neck is to dry and need it. Never on the rest of my face.

But...I don't think that moisturiser can stop peeling to happen. Maybe it will be a little bit less visible.
I am using microfiber cloth every morning and sometimes Avene scrub in the evening and I didn't see much peeling during the day when I doing this regularly. I tried to stop this for a few days, and my skin became grayish and flaky.
It is not said that you must walk around with flakes just to be sure that retinol is working his job Smile Moisturiser simply help the skin to pass treatment with less trauma. If your skin is very dry - you can use it.

I don't know about cream you mentioned, but if my skin gets dry I will try to avoid something like that, and applied something calming and soothing over Retinol.

My impression from reading on other forums is that you can apply moisturizer half an hour after retinoids. I do use moisturizer after Taz with wait time one hour. If I were you, I would switch over to another night moisturizer that doesn't contain BHA.I apply BHA on nights when I don't use Taz. Another option is to use Taz alternate nights in winter, rather than every night. If you are on maintenance and not active treatment, this would still be effective with lesser peeling.

I thought the paperwork that came with taz said you could use a moisturizer either before or afterward without affecting anything?

Gernetic Sychro

It's a balm that I press into the face about an hours after I applied Skinceutical 1.0 Retinal.

I figured if it's good enough for burns, used in French hospital in Foch in 1978, it must be good enough to soothe any potential irritations from Retinol.

It's as much an eye/ neck cream as a face cream.
