Now when autumn is upon us, my skin is getting drier and drier, and the same goes for my body. Therefore, I am on the outlook for a rich bodylotion or cream. It has to be relatively easily absorbed, and have a neutral scent. I can't just see how people rave over the Palmer's Cocoa Butter bodylotion, it literally makes me wanna throw up Sad

I like:
Biotherm Antidrying Bodymilk
TBS Bodybutters Olive and Grapeseed
Vichy Lipidiose 2
L'Oreal Nutrilift

Besides that, I haven't found anything that will work.

Personally, I like the smell of Palmer's Cocoa Butter, though it makes me hungry Confused However, I don't find this product all that nourishing; it kind of makes my skin greasy.

I think that you should address the cleansing of your skin first. Begin with exfoliation, either with a loofah sponge, body glove, or exfoliating product such as MD Formulations Face & Body Scrub. If you have dead, flakey skin on your body, this creates a barrier, and doesn't allow your moisturizer to work as effectively as it ought to.

A few good moisturizers for you to consider: DDF Glycolic Intensive Cream, Dermalogica Ultra Rich Body Cream, Phytomer Soin Beaute Moisturizing Body Creme, or Skinmedica TNS Recovery For Body.

I'm a Lubriderm, Eucerin, or Nivea girl myself when it gets chilly. I also like the WonderBod by Benefit with the glycolic acid in it....works wonders on elbows, etc. But it does sting a bit.

I exfoliate twice a week either with a scrub from Garnier or the L'Oreal Exfotonic.

I will look into the creams you people have mentioned. It seems my skin is very sensitive at the moment (not on my face, though), so yesterday, I almost scratched my back off Sad

Yup, I'm with batterat40
Eucerin is my favorite in the wonter time. They also have a new itch relief spray when you get really dry & flacky.
I don't usually splurge on high end body products like I do with facial care.
Ummm, I am going to try Lush Dream Cream next!!!

Can't go wrong with Eucerin, it really works.

WHICH Eucerin? I remember having one years ago, that didn't do anything besides smelling nice. It was in a white bottle with red cap.

I like the Dermalogica one actually. I use some Dermalogica Detoxifying Oil first and then use the Ultra Rich Cream. Mind you, I also have Eucerin (but the 10% Glycolic one - don't like it), Body Shop body butters, MMU body butters, Palmer's, Crabtree etc I also like tea tree oil moisturisers as well.

No, I don't think it does. The Oil smells very herbal but I thought that the cream was fine.

Hi,
I started using Nivea Q10 about three months ago and find it works wonders for my legs. Nivea is one product I had always steered clear of but decided to give it a try after a friend recommended it.

You can't beat the price either Very Happy

I love Alba botanica Kukui nut body cream. It's really like a body butter (extra thick and rich) that works really well on my dry skin. It is made with 72% organic ingredients. It smells very strong though of vanilla and cinnamon (?), or better yet a snickerdoodle cookie. If you don't want something highly fragranced, then you might not like this. Personally, I love the smell. Rolling Eyes

I have used Alpha Keri Oil for years now and have been complimented on my soft skin.

After you've showered, apply it onto moist skin - you don't need to rub in but rather rub over? - and then pat yourself dry. It really does work wonders.

In winter when dryness is more of a problem, run yourself a bath and add a few squirts - you will feel lucsious afterwards!

last winter i used dermalogica's body hydrating cream (it has lactic acid to continuously + gently exfoliate) mixed w. stress relief oil. i quite liked the smell that the 2 together made and depending on how my skin was feeling i would use more of the cream or more of the oil.

i've been using dr hauschka's rose body cream, and will see how it holds out during the winter. it's more of a liquid consistency than a cream, but it feels really nice going on. this one takes a bit of time to soak in, so dressing in the morning gets delayed a bit, but the results thus far have been great.

i think something that's important to do is apply body cream as soon as you can after getting out of the shower when your skin's still warm and damp and will absorb cream really really well.

The best advice that I can give in terms of keeping moisture in your skin, is to exfoliate regularly, and slather on the body cream twice a day - in the morning and at night before you go to bed. I also use the loreal/garnier moisture sprays as well as cream, and my skin is always super soft.

lamicuz:

You mentioned combining 2 products. I never thought of that. Rolling Eyes What brand is the stress relief oil? I'd really like to give that approach a try, because nothing seems to keep my legs from becoming very dry and flaky, especially in the winter. Sad

I am a big fan of EMU oil. I love tubs and put a capful in every night. I have used products from homemadesuds.com. She has lovely creams. They moisturize all day. That is where I am getting my EMU oil.

Emu oil is suppose to be one of the few oils that penetrate the skin Question I really am no expert on product claims but it does work for me.

the cream and oil are both by dermalogica.

the nice thing about the oil is that you can also add a few pumps into a bath...it turns milky and smells blissful and is in fact quite stress relieving (for me, anyways).

i believe there is also a detox oil.

thanks, lamicuz, I will definitely give them a try. I usually try to avoid baths in the winter (even though I love them) because I always feel it'll dry my skin out even more than it usually is. Confused

guapagirl,

I found a website where I can get Dr. Ricaud's products. What is the name of the one you'd recommend? Thanks much!

My vote is for Dermologica Hydrating Cream, I recently got it in my order a week ago and I'm about half done..!! I use it so much, the smell is great and it exfoliates naturally.

Eucerin is fall back, can't ever go wrong there. I like their Alpha Hydroxy Cream, the bottle takes forever to finish, it lasts you quite some time.

How about Cetaphil cream and Aveeno lotion? They are easily affordable with no scent and widely available (at least in the US). I was just diagnosed with eczema and was told to moisturize at least twice a day with Cetaphil.

First let me say that I am not a Clinique fan at all but...........the Body Butter (jar) & Deep Comfort (tube) are both very good. I have given both many many times as gifts & always have a spare of each on hand. Among other things Laughing I'm a body cream junkie. My skin is dry & 2 times a day -am & pm- I put lotion (or cream) on everywhere. Another good line that I love is the Acca Kappa one - I use the Primrose Cream & White Moss Lotion. The Declor Vitaroma is next on my list to try, but it seems I always go back to the Clinique.
