so I figured what better time to catch up on writting some reviews! Very Happy

I've been using the Borghese Fango Face & Body Mud on and off for a while. This and the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask are the only two mud-based masks that I have.

I quite like the Borghese mask actually and prefer it to the Mint Julep mask which seems to burn my (non-sensitive) skin like crazy for about 5 minutes after application. Don't get me wrong, I still think that the Queen Helene is an effective (very) deep cleansing mask but the severe burning is just not pleasant. The QH is also difficult to spread on the skin, difficult to wash off, and nutoriously difficult to actually squeeze out of the tube (picture me putting my body weight on the tube to get some out Laughing

).

The Borghese mud mask is dark green in color and spreads really easily on the face. Washes off super easily as well - probably the easiest mud mask to wash off (out of the ones I have tried). I still do get stinging with this one but nowhere near as much as with the QH. Also, I can't leave it on for too long because it tightens up too much when it dries - so I actually wash it off while it's still semi wet. In terms of results, it leaves my skin really smooth and feeling clean - probably about the same as the QH.

Having a 200mL tube of this (or is it 250ml? can't remember) still doesn't stop me from wanting to try the Dr Hauschka mud mask. I've read great reviews of it and I really REALLY want to try it. Having to mix it with water sounds a bit "trial & error" to me but I'm willing to give it a go if it's as good as people say it is!

So have you tried this product on your body? Would you repurchase? Any noticeable difference w/ pores and blackheads? Out of 5 stars how many would you give this product?

p.s. I think it would be great if EDS had a star rating feature in the product reviews forum, much the way MMU has theirs set up.

Haven't tried this on my body yet but I probably will once I get another mud mask and need to find an excuse to use this one up Laughing

I would repurchase this over the Queen Helene and the other mud masks I've tried before (admitedly not that many). But, I will be trying out others in an effort to find one that does not sting (after all my skin is NOT sensitive!).

I for one am glad that there is no * rating on products because I would never be able to decide what rating to give! Laughing

Selfishness aside, it IS a good idea Smile

So.... um.... I don't know.... 4? Mainly because it's nice and you can tell it's high quality but it stings and pulls too much Very Happy

I wish I had another sample of the Ahava mud mask because thinking back that was probably the best one so far.

I've not tried the Borghese Mud Mask, but my sister swears by it. I've noticed that this line is not as readily available in major department stores as it once was.

Clearing ------------ spam just put me off my dinner so I did what any self-respecting girl would do instead - a mini-facial Laughing

My skin is still fairly congested and so I opted for a mud mask tonight. As I went through my newly arranged bathroom cabinet (gotta love bathroom stocktakes! Cool

) I noticed my tube of Borghese Fango Mud, which is my second tube of this product since I first tried it over four years ago. I am *so* impressed with the effectiveness of this mask, in part thanks to my new face steamer.

I always thought this mask was good but today I used my new ionic facial steamer machine for 5 minutes before putting on a very thick layer of this mask and I have a newly found respect for it! When I washed it off, my skin was smooth and bright. It was smooth with the exception of one area - my nose! On my nose was a whole collection of sebum plugs sticking out of the skin - these were definitely not there (at least not visible) before I put the mask on. So it seems that the mask literally pulled these out, which is rather impressive as far as I'm concerned.

The mask itself is meant to be applied really thick to the skin, which is something that I didn't really do in the past. It is also meant to be washed off 5-10 minutes after it has been applied - i.e. before it actually gets a chance to dry out. In the past, I used to do thin applications of this mask and generally left it on till it dried (mainly because I used to get distracted and forgot about it till my tight face reminded me of it). I didn't see such great results with it in the past (despite also steaming my face over a bowl of hot water) so I can only conclude that the better more consistent steaming together with a thick application and washing it off before it dried REALLY does make a HUGE difference in its effectiveness.

As I stood there looking at my nose with all these little plugs sticking out of my skin, I was trying to figure out how to best clear up my skin. So, I had the idea to do *another* 5 minute facial steam and applied one of those Biore pore strips. I don't usually use them but recently did one of those silly impulse purchases Rolling Eyes

I slowly ripped off the strip (man that hurt!!!) and was very impressed with what it removed, which was lots more compared to when I tried the strip last week when I bought the pack though it didn't remove everything. I then splashed my face with cold water (to close up the pores) and applied Sothys Hydroptimale mask (the mud mask is a bit drying). After it's all done, my skin now feels awake, smooth and hydrated. Very impressed!

Now, a little disclaimer about the mask. Definitely NOT for those with sensitive skin. In all the years that I have been using this, it has never stopped to sting my skin quite significantly when I apply it to my skin. It also does dry out a little bit so it is not something that I would be using every few days but a fantastic product for clearing up the skin and then following with a moisturising mask.

In terms of application, it spreads easily (and looks great since it's that deep green colour) and also washes off pretty easily. The best way that I have found to wash this off is actually over the sink with one of those sea sponges. I've tried washing it off in the shower before but it's just too messy with all the dark green mud (my shower is pure white tile and grout).

Finally, this thing LASTS!!!! True, I have not been applying as much as I should have been (as I just figured out today) but I've had this tube for about two years and have used it a fair bit. The previous tube also lasted ages.

All right, now that this is done, I think I'm ready for my dinner again Cool

I really like this mask too especially when I'm too lazy to mix my other powder masks.

I use the same version as Mabsy does but for the dryer more sensitive skin there is a sensitive skin version which I'm dying to try. I hear it works just as well. This is also inexpensive for the amount you get - you can get huge sizes that come in a jar.

This is actually one of the better cleansing masks that come in a tube that I've tried and this is definitely one of the less drying ones.

Thanks for bringing this review back up again, reminded me to purchase one. I read the MUA reviews of the mask months ago and was swayed by them. Think i'd opt for the sensitive one though.

Thanks sormuimui! I didn't realise that there was a milder version. As long as it cleans as well as this one I'm willing to give it a go. My tube is running out so I'll switch to the sensitive skin one next Smile

I also like the Borghese mud mask a lot. It cleans really well - at least as good as if not better than Clarisonic in my opinion - and leaves my skin smooth after rinsing off. It does tighten up a lot but I can stand that. Very Happy

I also have the Queen Helene one and was looking to try to Borghese one but I still have a huge bottle of the QH one left. Surprised

I heard that the Borghese Active Mud can sting so if you have sensitive skin, you may have some redness after you take it off as it's a strong mask!

Thanks for reviewing this again! I;d forgotten about this! It did always sting my skin and was drying but it's great to hear that it clarifies so well!

Am going to try the sensitive skin version!

Btw, how do you like your ionic steamer? I'm still stuck in the dark ages with a sinkful of hot water and a towel over my head!

I bought a Borghese kit over the summer. It contained this mask and I think it is a nice product. Does leave your skin very soft & glowy.

I also like the SPF 15 day moisturizer. I bought the kit b/c is was nice small glass bottles, easy to travel with.

The Borghese Fango Delicato (Sensitive Skin) Mud Mask is my HG! I love it! I used it religiously before my wedding and I got so many compliments on my skin. My stepmom got it for me for a Christmas present a few years ago and it's been the best; I have the large jar and I bought a backup jar (I found at TJ Maxx for $30) even though I was less than 1/2 way through the first one. I got a little lazy the past couple of months and I've noticed a huge difference when I don't use it (i.e. more zits, less even texture and color).

I have sensitive skin and my complexion is fair with ruddy patches (mainly on my cheeks). After using this mask, my dry patches are gone, the moisture in my skin seems even and the redness is toned down. My skin looks perfect right after rinsing off, I wish I had that perfect porcelain look all the time.

I leave it on for 25 - 30 minutes but I'll have to try it for less since Mabsy got better results (I usually sit in bed with a book and forget I have it on). I tossed the packaging when I got the mask and never knew how long I was supposed to wear it for. It tingles a little and does get tight but I put a thick layer on and it doesn't bother me. I feel like my skin is moisturized after, certainly clean and not tight after rinsing off. I do notice that I get a little itching around my nose but it's not too bad and not irritating. I usually do my mask after washing with regular cleanser and then doing an at home micro-dermabrasion kit. I'll have to try steaming and biore strips for my nose. Costco is now carry some Borghese kits and I'm thinking about trying more of their line. I've also seen some of their products at TJ Maxx too. Wink

I also like the pink mud mask, which is only sold in Asian market.
It can give the glow on the face after using.

I think it works if your skin is the dry type. I find it too oily for my skin and it tends to clog my pores. i got mine when I visited Hong Kong and I spent my holiday unglogging the pores that the face mask clogged. Sad

Are you sure you're talking about the same mask? I would suggest this more for normal to oily skins rather than dry skin (which might get dried out a bit after using this). It's a clay mask, I didn't find it oily at all.

I like Borghese masks! But the only problem is that they are hard to clean(always waste a lot of water!).
Besides, after using, my face feels tight, but like skin can not breath...i'm wondering if this mask should be washed by cleanser...

I've been using Borghese Fango Active Mud for
more than 10 years and it works very well both for my face and body!

One thing I really love about the Mud is that
with consistant use of the mask on my body, it significantly reduces the periodic breakouts from my chest and upper back! (Although it can be rather messy to remove all the mud from the body!)

I take it afer what I read about its benefit, and also from so many positive feedbacks this product gets.

It gives devitalized, over-tense skin a new surge of vitality with clear, youthful radiance. Also moisturizes & relaxes tired lines, helps firm & elasticize body skin. Now, how does that sound? Sounds good to you? Coz it sure does to me!

I've just purchased this mask (the green one) and would like to ask how do you wash it off? The instructions leaflet says to use a sponge or cloth but as its really messy, I dont want to ruin my microfibre cloth, so can I just rinse it off?

I used the green one. It is quite good for oily skin and acne skin. But I must apply moisturizing mask after that to keep my skin moisturizing.

A bottle of mud mask can be used for a long time. As I remember, I shared it with my sister and used for near 1 year.
