Hello..I am new here and I hope someone can help me. I am in my early fifties, been divorced a year ..I am trying to meet and date but my skin problem is really causing me distress..I have huge pores, raised pores on my face, and white heads on my chin and jawline..My skin looks like a mess..When I meet someone they are shocked and turned off from my skin..My pictures don't show this and I don't know how to tell them on phone or email..I have met three men, really nice men, and two of them commented on my bad skin that didn't show in picture..I am scared to meet anyone now..I have a great personality, educated, and I have exercised and kept a trim figure..I don't even want to be seen in sunlight now..Is there any hope for my skin?..I also have sebborric keratosis on my back and chest area..I wish I could just disappear..I am ashamed to be seen by anyone..Any hope for my skin?..I don't want to live my life alone. |

Hi there. Maybe the best thing for you is to consult a dermatologist and see what they have to say. There is hope for your skin I am sure of it! You just have to consult the right people so that you will not be wasting time and money. Best of luck to you! |

Aw, this makes me very sad.
I agree with poster above. Dermatologist. They will probably prescribe a retinoid of some sort. I'm very sorry about your situation. |

That depends on how much you want to spend and the time you can make for it.
for your body I would suggest trying the DIY recipes here. It's important to give yourself some time each day. I give my self 1 hour a day and I have 3 kids under 8
for the face obagi and tretinoin are still the best. it takes care of all the problems you have.
You do need to take multi vitamins probiotics and enzyms to help with digestion. don't forget SMS and vit C
also change your diet.
you can find great tips on this forum just keep reading |

Oh, Sadlady, there is always hope! I will echo the suggestions of seeing a dermatologist. Please also read the various threads here in regards to nutrition and supplementation, perhaps starting with the Green Smoothies thread. http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=35013
You will find that we all have experimented with various combinations of product/practical applications and foodstuffs.
Having said that, I can offer that retin-a and better nutritional choices have transformed my skin. While I still have unresolved issues, I know it (skin) is improving everyday. |

Sadlady, I have used NuDerm by Obagi it is retin A product base. It is an 18 week long routine. But after about 6 weeks your skin and pores will look much better my pore really looked much smaller, with that said, your skin will look worst before it looks better, but the end results are great.Alot of people on this forum has done the Obagi nuderm and had great results. The retina is great, but the exoderm was what makes the pores smaller.Hope this is of some help. |

Hello sadlady.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record I urge you to consult a dermatologist immediately. They would be able to take your history and then diagnose the cause and prescribe the proper product/ regime for you.
Perhaps you could tell us which part of the world you live in and if there are members living in your area, they could help and recommend a dermatologist who could help you.
I can appreciate you feeling frustrated and sad due to the stares. But you got to fight this. Everyone deserves beautiful skin. Some people are blessed with it due to good genetics while others have to work for it. No matter which side you belong to its a constant 'work'/duty' to take care of your skin.
Cheer up and work this out. Soon enough you can be 'sadladynomore ' .
Sorry if I sounded preachy.
I dug out some old archive on seborrheic keratosis on the forum. But I can't paste the link here cos I'm new . Just explore the D-I-Y Skincare routine. |

I'm not sure, I don't think you can though. Why don't you PM one of the mods? Otherwise you can always sign up again and put 'formerly sadlady' in your sigline.
All the best with the derm app and finding products that will work for you. Don't forget to drink enough water in the meantime. Sometimes pores flare up because the skin is dehydrated, even when it's oily.
Keep us posted! ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

Sorry you are feeling so down SL. My first intuition was to recommend you begin using an LED device for your skin. It seems to have tightened the pores on my face and improved my complexion considerably. I use the (AntiAging) LightStim but they make a unit that addresses acne too--and there are also many other company's that make LED's units. Beginning Retin A could also benefit your skin. |

Something that others haven't mentioned is that if your skin is a somewhat recent phenomenon, then it might be related to a hormonal imbalance or some other underlying health issue. My mother, who's never had issues with her skin, suddenly developed a sun allergy right around the time she began going into menopause.
You should ask your doc next time you're up for a physical or ob/gyn exam if they can do some tests. |

Dear Sadlady, I hope the encouragement from your sisters in this forum is beginning to snap you out of the verbal abuse you took from the men on your dates, and back into a place of your own strength and personal power. Never allow a man to intimidate you with shallow comments, rooted in their inferiority, which they projected onto you. OK?.. Continue your work on your inner and outer self, - see a dermatologist etc, research and try new products definitely,.. but find your strength - alone, then attract a like minded partner who has found his own strength - alone... so that a higher love can exist... meaning - one not based on co-dependency or inferiority. Being alone is great by the way - I love it at 49, such a rich time in a woman's life. I'm wishing you much love from many sources.... - |

hey sadlady....listen...plzzz dont be sad....everyone is right....u should have hopes
u will not be disappointed...
take my example...and this is the example of many other people on this forum...
almost 1 and a half month ago,,,my skin was much much more messy than it is now...my skin had lost and lots of blotchiness,,,,raised scars,,,depressed one,,,,open pores,,,,weired raised pores full of white cheesy stuff that was causing my skin to look bumpy...u know,,,like u,,,i was exaclty afraid to go out in the sun...speciall with my husband ...cuz i didnt want him to see how bad my skin looks,,,it would also look very ugly inside my home but even uglier in daylight,,,,when my hubby was out for work,,i would take a big mirror and stare at my face in sunlight coming form the window and would think,,,,everyones skin looks atleast representable,,,why is mine so ugly,,,and i knew if only the ski wwas good,,,i could loo much much more good...so i found out obagi nuderm,,,didnt consult a doctor though,,,and after 4 weeks of use,,,,my acne scars egt less noticeable,,,the white cheesy stuff disapperead somewhere,,dont know where,,,the raised bumps are past now,,,,the pores are much smaller,,,,,blotchiness gone,,,,and this is only 4 weeks on being this system..most people see the biggest difference after the 12th week of treatment....in the first 4 to 5 weeks,,u canlook pretty ugly....with red face as if u got a sun burn..i m soo soo sooooo happy with my decision of using it,,,i ll ust for the rest of my life,,,for me it was a bit expenive,,,but yes i wasted sso much money on other stuff and other procedures,,wish i directly went on obagi nuderm...
check wit h ur docotr ...ask her if obagi is right for u...there might be someother treatment for u,,,,,let ur doctor choose the ebst for u,,,and never be hopeless,,,i was exaclty as depressed as u,,,would d cry with tears and now honeslty i have something good to look forward to,,,,,i knw in the next few weeks,,i m gonna be even happier and i ll wait to go out in the sun with my hubby cuz i ll have no fear to hide my skin,,,but yeah sunblock is a must while on this system and ofcourse for the rest of ur life too..
best of luck....![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

Don't give up hope. Getting my skin in line made me more confident, perform better at my job, and didn't hurt in the 'relationship' part of my marriage:

Hope it helps! |
