I have been using retin A and tazorac for awhile on my face (short contact therapy).
I am now getting a few irritation bumps and peeling on my cheeks and chest.
Would you keep doing retin a, maybe back off only a little, to get the skin more adjusted?
Or is this a level of irritation/inflammation that is too high?
Thanks! |

Are you using retin A and tazorac at the same time? Every day? Are you using any other actives (AHA, etc.) in your routine? |

Not using them at the same time, and not every day.
I try to minimize irritation as rule, so in addition to waiting a few days between applications, I wait until the skin is either not irritated or just a bit dry, etc.
I don't use anything else because the skin is already sensitive enough from the retin a. Gentle face wash, gentle physical sunscreen etc. I'd like to think I'm pretty savvy about this stuff, but I'm surprised that I'm not able to apply the retinoids more frequently as time goes on.
On my chest there are clogged pores so that's one o the reasons I'd like to build up to more frequency. Plus sun damage I want to get rid of. |
