Can you give us a little more to go on? is your skin oily or dry? How "mature" are we talking? Are you partial to powders (mineral makeup) or liquids or creams? High end or low end? Any other issues -- like rosacea or scars?
This info will help those with skin LIKE YOURS answer with their experience. There is no one "best."
If there were, what would we all find to talk about on this forum?? |

Hotgossip, do you have to wear foundation? If you have good skin, would concealer be enough for you? I've had good success with Cover FX as a concealer. |

I tend to favour natural make-up products because they seem to be gentle on the skin. Dr. Hauschka's moisturizers coupled with jane iredale's foundations (mineral or liquid) seem to work the best. |

I really like Giorgio Armani and Trish Mc Evoy is also good for mature skin. But now I experiment with UGloGirl minerals, as they are best, supposedly, for dryer skin. |

I have um *mature* skin too and have tried alllllllllll the mineral makeups out there......not one worked for me - they all settled in the fine lines and even with a primer made me look like I was 100 years old.
A liquid is your best bet. Creams just feel like a mask IMO. Mixing moisturizer and/or a highlighter product with the foundation gives you a glow and looks fresh. You could use a concealer, as others have suggested, for the capillaries that show and blend well!
MUFE and Cargo both make a nice powder for setting the foundation and blurring the lines and pores. Then going over everything with barely damp sponge sets your face and makes the finishing powder melt into your skin so it doesn't look old-lady-dry. The finishing powder is the secret.
I had to experiment to find what works, but that's half the fun. Good luck finding the perfect finish for you!!
MakeupAlley has product evaluations so you can know where to start looking anyway.

I love the feel of Bobbi Brown and Glo Minerals liquid foundations. L'oreal Cashmere liquid to powder foundation is nice and provides plenty of coverage without looking heavy at all (it's cheaper), too. I hear Neutrogena liquid foundation is pretty nice, too - but I'm not sure if it provides the kind of coverage you are looking for? |

SK-II Airtouch Spray foundation is easy to use and gives light, natural coverage. It doesn't accentuate lines at all. |

Fawnie,I am interested in your technique of mixing the highlighter with the liquid makeup to give the gow. This sounds like what I am trying to achieve. Can you tell me what makeup line you are using? Also more about the powder and the sponge technique. I have NEVER used a powder that I felt didn't make me look old,so I never use one ever. But.....my makeup is gone after four hours. I am open for suggestions on how to get the dewy look and get it to stay on.

Hi Toby
I just pm'd you!
I mix whatever foundation I'm using with Prada Gel/Cream in Glow on the back of my hand and apply.
The MMU I go over with a barely damp BeautyBlender sponge, or Target has Sonia Kashuk sponges now that will do the same.
Hope this helps. The fun is in experimenting isn't it! |

I've tried dozens, including MMU. Best foundation I have found (and I need a good medium coverage) is Estee Lauder Doublewear Light. It manages to deal with all of my "issues": no shiny t-zone, good buildable coverage (needed for a couple of sun spots but lighter everywhere else), and not mask-like. |

Hi Toby
Sorry, I meant to say I go over the Cargo blu_ray or MUFE finishing powder with the barely damp sponge, since I don't use MMU anymore. But you could go over the MMU with damp sponge to set it, if you wanted to use MMU.
I like Estee Lauder Individualist liquid. It's lightweight, not masky and doesn't look dry. More like a TM, with a bit more coverage. |

I too have mature skin and have tried all the suitable foundations out there.
I still go back to Chanel's Pro Lumiere everytime!
It has amazing coverage, does not settle into fine lines or wrinkles and gives a wonderful glow. |

Where can one get samples? And is Matrixyl3000 the newer (presumably improved) version, wouldn't Hourglass have that instead of the Matrixyl? I'm trying to get up to speed on various ingredients and not sure I have those versions straight... |

to be honest - i dont know... and am still looking out for this one...
the most popular within the expensive ones, which all get good reviews, might be (ordered by price) ...
- LA PRAIRIE
- KANEBO
- SISLEY
i tried LA PRAIRIE, which is very moistured, did not settle into lines, and covered very well... but i felt, it was (looking) like just some big layer on my skin...
the SISLEY i found much nicer, and not that heavy weighted...
they do have three types, where the "Phyto Teint Eclat" is the most popular one...
http://www.sisley-cosmetics.com/?page=produit_liste&type_categorie=maquillage&clef_categorie=2_34
besides the effect, that it doesnt settle into lines, dry the skin, and stays all day long, its very important to pick the "right" colour...
this i find the most difficult thing... |

It is so hard to find any skin that doesnt accentuate wrinkles. my best success has been with el cheapo Australis mousse. I think the loreal cashmere is awful!
I have heard, but no used, the Lauren Hutton disc is for older skin? |

I'm not sure which one since I don't have the box. I just remember reading it on the ingredient list. I got a sample from Sephora. It's oil-free but definitely not drying. In fact, I may wait till Sept. to buy it since it's so and humid right now. It's on the pricey side at about $60. So get a sample or buy from Sephora, at least they take returns. They also have an amazing (supposedly) primer. I have a sample but haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know. |

Those mineral makeups seem to sit in the wrinkles I find too - what I do is mix some Aveda loose powder into my moisturizer and then I apply it to my face with a makeup sponge - when I need makeup - I don't wear it much anymore - you may like that - some of the mineral makeups you can do that with and some you can't - |

I wanted to revive this thread and put in my 2cents for Chanel Teint Innocence. Lovely glowy finish that doesn't look cakey, masky, or "too glowy" like Bare Essentuals. It really needs a primer or sunscreen underneath for something to grab onto, since it's a lightweight slip of a little thing!
Then just a touch-up with concealer and a light dust of powder gives a truly air-brushed look. My new HG!
Chanel usually is generous with samples too before you plunk down $52 for a bottle of foundation! A little goes a very long way, so I'm sure this big bottle will last my lifetime. |
