Hi all,

My first review! I've been using Nia24 Skin Strengthening Complex for almost 2 months now. I have oily, acne prone skin, and am a long term retin a user. In my teens I spent a lot of time in the sun. My only fine lines really are around my eyes, underneath and crows feet area. (Actually I did have a forehead line, but no longer thanks to Botox). I also have a couple of neck lines (bands?) that are a bit darker than the rest of my neck. I use the SSC in the am 10 minutes after vitamin C serum, and at night 1 hour after tretinoin.

What it's done for me so far: evened out skin tone a great deal, and no more peeling or irritation from retin a use (I used to peel or get irritated occasionally). A chemist friend of mine said any improvements in fine lines will take several months, because the active has to convert twice). My fine lines in the eye area seem to be a bit less, and the neck bands seem to be fading away, but are still there. One strange effect: I had two moles on my face, small and dark but raised, and they are now the same color of my skin and barely noticeable. I'm hoping for more improvement as time goes on, but so far am very pleased with the results.

It was the before and after pictures on the site that sold me originally, if you have not seen them you may want to take a look.

Hope this is helpful! I'll update in a few months.

Thanks. That's a great review. The SSC is also one of my favourite products. Although it's more expensive than the sunblock which has the same concentration of pro-Niacin, I would still repurchase the SSC but not the sunblock. The sunblock doesn't quite agree with my skin (it's a bit drying).

I'm not.

I do use Canyon Ranch sunscreen, which is a physical ss with nice amounts of zinc and titanium, as well as the active pro-nad which is the active in Nia 24. I love it, it dries matt and is great protection for everyday use, but perhaps not enough for big days out in the sun hiking etc. I've also tried the CR serum (which I love, but am not sure it's worth the money), and the CR eye cream (which is great but it tends to migrate towards the eye area and irritate.)

I've read great reviews for the Nia 24 eye cream and I plan to try that next. For now, my only staple from the Nia line is the SSC.

For $85 a pop, how long do you expect it to last?

Bira, one bottle/tube lasts me about 5 weeks. I buy it with a coupon code so it's actually $65.

Thanks! $65 is still pretty expensive but if it works, that's all that matters. Congrats! Very Happy

That's exactly what I did! So far I really like the NIA 24 line, but I'm wondering if the intensive complex is more moisturizing than the SSC. Does anyone know? I find I need a bit more moisture than the SSC is giving me.

I have very dry skin and the Intensive Complex works well for me. It's definitely more moisturising.

Make sure you check the expiration date on the sunscreen...it has already expired on most samples I have received from a variety of non-ebay sources.

And the Intensive Complex is definitely more moisturizing than the SSC. You are also forced to use a VERY small amount (or it pills up), so it lasts a longer time than you would think. I don't plan on repurchasing the SSC.

I find the SSC just right for my skin, it may actually be too moisturizing for some, due to the olive oil, some people on MUA have had issues w/acne due to this... that said, I have very acne prone skin, and find it just right in terms of moisture, especially one hour after retin a. No breakouts for me. YMMV, as with all products.

I'm going to add my experiences to this thread. I've just started using the skin strengthening complex. I have combination skin that is prone to breakouts. So the first day I used it just in the morning all over my face, neck and décolletage area. Having a very sensitive nose and being allergic to particular fragrances, I didn't like the smell at all! The cream seemed to sit a little heavy on my skin - but I think this is due to me having only a light moisturiser previously.

So I'm up to the forth day now. I am used to the smell and thankfully I didn't have any allergic reaction to it. My skin now is happy with the consistency of this product. However I am noticing some itching and irritation on my décolletage during the course of the day. I am liking the feel of my skin after using this. And to boot,my skin seems to be starting to clear up!!

Lucretia, I think I had a few days of very light peeling when I started, it quickly passed.

Updating to add, I've been lightening up on the SSC to only once weekly as I think it is contributing to breakouts! I believe the wheat germ oil is to blame. But, I am still using products with the pro-niacin, I am loving the Canyon Ranch light moisture lotion, and I also use once or twice per week the Wexler anti-aging acne lotion, which also has pro niacin (Myristyl Nicotinate). I hope to go back full time to the SSC in the winter, but my skin gets very acne prone in the warmer months.

What made you pick this brand over so many other brands of skincare products?

Has anyone had any success with the link above? I tried it 3 times now and every time it froze my PC up. I had to close the window, and it kicked me out of my EDS session, too.

It's not the brand, but the active ingredient. I have a medical background and was impressed with the studies, and after trying the SSC was very impressed with the transformation of my skin.

I just tried it on the iPhone which uses Safari as it's browser without any issues and came right back to EDS.

snowymtn, I haven't had any peeling at all yet, but thanks for your feedback, cause if I do, I'll understand that's part of the course with it.

Natalyn, I agree with what snowymtn had to say in terms of the active ingredients and I have read alot of reviews, that seemed very positive. I was looking for a moisturiser that had some actives in it, but didn't include the high percentages of retinol as I am not ready to try that just yet. So this one appeared to have just what I was looking for in terms of not being overly filled with 'fillers' and chemicals, nor containing endless supposedly strong ingredients. I had previously been using only organic skincare products for the past 8 years and at 34, thought it was time to bump it up a notch, try some stronger stuff. I believe a few great actives is enough to start out with, to see how my skin copes with them. I am not ready to get too gung-ho just yet with Copper Peptides, matrixyl, argireline and stuff like that, so this seemed like a really good stepping stone for me. At the moment it's working, but only time will tell.

Ingredients that where key to why I choose this product.

Myristyl Nicotinate: which is a derivative of Vit B3 this helps to improve skin barrier function, mitigate signs of sun damage, and reduce the incidence of atopic dermatitis, commonly known as dry skin.

Squalane: It is a natural component of skin and is a good emollient that has antioxidant and immune-stimulating properties.
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice: Soothing, anti irritant with antioxidant properties.

Green Tea Extract: Potent antioxident and anit-irritant.

Ceramides: help to restore the skin’s barrier system.

Sodium Hyaluronate: Component of skin tissue that is used in skin-care products as a good water-binding agent.

Palmitoyl Oligopeptide: I really wanted my moisturizer to have this in it. may stimulate collagen production and encourage the production of intercellular matrix substances such as hyaluronic acids.

Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A Palmitate):research shows it to be effective as an antioxidant and skin-cell regulator

As well as Evening Primrose, Wheat germ, Olive oil, soya bean and other nourishing ingredients like these.
Hope this helped.

Sorry to double post Embarassed , but I just wanted to add some other factors I forgot to post in my previous answer to this...

So price had something to do with it. It's not as expensive as other high end products such as Cellcosmet and Valmount etc. It's a bit more expensive than I am used to paying, but not insane! And I believed that what it included was worth the price.

Also it didn't contain products that I personally have ethical and moral problems with such as the use of cultured fetal skin cells from cells banks.

Also I asked the advice of someone on EDS who I trust and who has tried numerous products over the years what she has decided after wading through endless products and 'magical' ingredients what she has chosen for herself. Nia24 SSC was it for her daycream.

So these were also determining factors why this product was choosen over so many others for me personally.
Hope this is helpful. Smile

Thank you so much both Snowymtn and Lucretia_zen for the detailed explanation. I will have to give this a try. My skin is resistant and doesn't react to many ingredients, so I'm still looking for that one thing that will get rid of my spots.

One more question - why didn't you go for the NIA24 Intensive Recovery Complex?
