Hi there,
First of all sorry if this repeats any other post - I have tried searching for previous posts but have been unable to make it work properly - my incompetence I think!
I may be completely off the mark here but here goes....
I've currently got really, really dry and crepey skin under my eyes and am looking for a really moisturising eye product that I can use at night.
I'm 27 so not really experiencing any other problems - no real lines or dark circles.
I know that hyaluronic acid is good at moisturisation and wondered if anyone knew of any eye creams, or even better a serum, that contained it. If so would they be ultra moisturising do you think?
I've tried La Prairie Cellular Eye Contour Cream (luckily only a sample size) and it really aggravated my skin.
I've found in the past that really rich, heavy eye creams at nighttime make my skin really puffy in the morning - hence my serum idea.
What do you all think? Any product recommendations?
Thank you for all of your help, Honey x |

The Relax-A-Line has hyaluronic acid as a base plus the muscle relaxer, acetyl hexapeptide. But you can get straight hyaluronic acid products at many places. I'd google it and see what comes back. The thing is Ha is a humectant so it pulls moisture deep into your skin. If you live in a humid environment, that's great. But if you are in a dry environment, then it could theoretically pull moisture from your upper layer skin cells...that's not too pretty. So, I always top my ha products with moisturizer so the moisturizer gets pulled into the cells. |

Hi betterat40,
You know so much! Thank you for such a speedy reply.
So I guess that I probably shouldn't be hung up about hyaluronic acid and should concentrate instead on recommendations for a good moisturising eye serum ...
It sounds like pure hyaluronic acid could turn my dry eye area into a shrivelled eye area - probably not that attractive !!

I have to make a slight correction to betterat40's description of how hyaluronic acid works. It doesn't pull moisture from the atmosphere or environment. That is a common misconception. It "locks in" moisture by forming a thin, light permeable visco-elastic film on the skin that traps moisture and stops moisture loss by fixing water into the top 2 layers of the skin.
So if your skin is naturally moist and hydrated, it will lock in that mositure. If it is not, you will still need to apply a good moisturizer before the HA solution.
If I were you, I would look for a good eye cream or moisturizing gel that has at least 1% hyaluronic acid (2% would be better if you can find it). Or put the HA serum over top of your eye cream.
Also, it is recommended to drink an extra 2 litres of water a day to hyperhydrate, allowing the HA acid to bring extra water to the skin surface. This is what will make your skin appear more hydrated and will plump up the fine lines and wrinkles more effectively. |

I have HA but I find that alone it makes my skin feel tight and dry. I use either ES or ADCE around my eyes. I also use a eye cream by Reviva Alpha Lipoic Eye Serum W/Dmae & Vit.C. It also has HA. I have started using product lines like Reviva and Derma E with great results. I discovered them at my local Vitamin Shoppe at excellent prices. I have become dishearted by the department store lines and prices. |

I, like Sweetpea, experience a tightness with HA alone so I moisturize over it. |

The Esthers Secret (ES) serum does have hyaluronic acid, as well as Argireline (acetyl hexapeptide-3), aloe barbadensis gel, glucosaminoglycans, grapeseed estract, green tea extract, cucumber extract, echinacea extract, allantoin, and Vitamins E, D3, and A.
So lot of wonderful moisturizing ingredients and anti-aging, anti-oxidant ingredients.
I recommend using the serum after cleansing and you can use an eye cream after if you wish, but most people don't feel they need extra moisturizing.

Does anyone know what the difference is between hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate? I see that some products such as skinceuticals C contain the sodium hyaluronate and others like relaxaline contain hyaluronic acid. Is there a difference? Which is better? |
