Hi guys,
I did a large test spot on my forehead using 25% TCA peel. I believe I left it on for 3 mins and maybe applied another layer half way through. The area turned pink and after a couple days turned brown and had no scabbing. It peeled nicely and the whole process took 5 days.
A month or so later, I applied the same to a couple age spots on my hand. I think I left it on for 3 mins and don't think I applied another layer. It didn't change the spots much but I know more than once isn't enough. It turned pink and peeled a little afterwards. I don't think I applied a second layer as I forgot.
Last week I applied it to a age/liver spot on my lower back. I left it on for 3 mins and didn't apply another layer until the last 30 secs as again I forgot. It turned pink and didn't peel much.
What am I doing wrong that I'm not getting the skin to brown? I guess I should apply a 2nd layer sooner? Would you apply it half way through? Do I need to leave it on for 4 mins?
I'm actually scared of making my skin go brown. If I don't decide to layer or leave the solution on longer for a deeper peel, will I still get the same results if I do a lighter peel monthly over 1-2 years? I mean just leaving it on for 3 mins and it only turns pink and peels. I'm also a little nervous I'll break out in cold sores. I've been taking Lysine though.
Thanks for any advice,
Cheryl |

I would just like to add that I just have minor acne scars and hyperpigmentation.
Thanks. |

Are you getting any frosting? Also, you do not really have to rinse off TCA because it will self neutralize. What brand 25% TCA are you using? Some may be diluted and not a true 25% strength. |

Hi Skinhelp,
Thanks for your reply.
The first time on my forehead I got frosting. The other two times I didn't.
I just did another test on that age spot on my back, it frosted by isn't doing much. Only darkened a little. It's only day 3 though so I will see if it will peel much.
Maybe I have to make sure it frosts more and leave it on longer? I'm scared of a disaster on my face so I'm a bit hesitant.
Will lighter peels over a long time have the same effect as a one time medium peel?
Thanks. |
