I'm 56, dryish skin, discoloration on jaw line as well as a few stubborn brown spots. My neck shows my age more than my face. I would love your suggestions for cleansers, serums, peels, etc.
Thank you in advance and have a wonderful Memorial Day. |

Hi Sandralee:
You didn't mention what your budget is, or what you are currently using and have tried in the past so I will recommend a full scope of products to give you some suggestions and you can trim it down by budget and/or previous skincare usage.
First the very best cleansing item I have found is the Clarisonic Cleansing brush. You can use it with any skin cleanser you like. The brush helps to exfoliate the skin regularly, makes the skin much smoother, deep cleans so much better than using your hands or a washcloth. It also helps make your pores appear much smaller over time.
Next in the AM I recommend:
Vitamin C serum after cleansing. (I prefer a 20% TO 25% C Serum)
Apply a good hydrating eye cream (there are so many eye creams and every one's preference here is so different I wont recommend any specific one)
I use Alpha Derma skin prep and ADCE next. I love Alpha Derma and have used it for years. It is fantastic for moisturizing and it truly keeps wrinkles at bay.
Last I use suncreen SPF 45.
In the PM:
Apply an AHA/BHA serum after cleansing.
Then I apply Copper Peptide serum on the face and Premiere Night Eyes around the top and bottom of the eye area. (you can apply a dap of eye cream over this is you have an especially dry under eye area)
Last apply a light layer of oil (Emu oil, Jojoba oil, Squalane, or which ever oil you prefer) over the entire face.
Once a week I use NCN's Pumpkin Peel. This is a great peel that exfoliates the skin very well.
You can apply these same products to the neck and chest area if you would like. CP's work especially well on the chest area to help remodel and protect from further damage.
HTH - Have a nice holiday |

Thanks Fairlady for responding! If you don't mind, please let me know what Vit.C, & AHA products you use. Also where do you buy Alpha Derma prep as I 've not heard of this. And one more question, what is ADCE? Price is a concern, but if the products really do what they say they will do, I'm there!
Do you use Retin-A at all? |

Hi Sandralee:
I love IFP's AHA/BHA the best. I use the 5%/10% serum but I started with the 2%/4% serum and would recommend that you do the same. You need to let your skin get use to it gradually. Here is the link to IFP http://ifeelprettyproducts.com/bha_aha.htm
Alpha Derma CE is my Janson Beckett. The skin prep is required before applying the Alpha Derma CE lotion (hence ADCE). I have been using this for years (over 5-6 yrs at least) and love it. One bottle of each lasts me about 8 months so even though it is a little pricey it lasts a long time so overall the value is there. Here is the link:
http://www.janson-beckett.com/store_fld/scripts/prodCatList.asp?idCategory=19
Alpha Derma Skin Prep and ADCE is sold at many places (just google it) even right here at EDS. I shop around for the best price so I don't always purchase it from the same place. Sometimes I get awesome deals on it on Ebay. Like $115 for both the skin prep and the CE (both 4OZ bottles).
Yes I use Retin A 2 or 3 times a week. I need to be careful with Retin A because it makes my skin peel very easily.
For Vitamin C serum I love Vivier C Serum (Link here at EDS: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/vivier-vitamin-c.htm
Vivier is the very best (IMHO) but when I over spent and I need to purchase C serum for less I buy Skin Beauty Solutions Vit C Serum L-Ascorbic Acid 25% from Ebay. It is a very good C serum and very inexpensive too!
I hope this helps to get you started. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions |

Vitamin C question,
I never knew they had Vitamin C serums with that high %.
I'm still tryingto use a 10% one and find it is enough for my skin as it is sensitive.
I have a 20% one,but rarely use it.
What kind of packaging is used for your products?
Do you have to refrigerate t hem?
One of mine is in serum capsules you open before use.
The other, the 20% in airless pump!
How often do you use vitamin C?
I couldn't use much on my skin for a few weeks due to face injury, but am now trying to use vitamin c 3x night a week-when i remember... |

Hi Sandralee:
How is the shopping going?
OK back to copper peptides. As I said, I personally love CP's. They completely remodeled the sun damaged skin on my chest area (I always use/used sun screen on my face but badly neglected the neck and chest area ) Thanks to copper peptides I was able to restore my skin back to a healthy youthful appearance. Here is the link for Copper peptides ( I use regular CP serum):
http://store.reverseskinaging.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=23
For maintenance of the neck and chest area I continue use CP's about twice a week and I use BND cream on the remaining nights (I do not use any other neck creams) here is the link with info on BND cream (also by Skin Biology):
http://store.reverseskinaging.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=52
When using Copper peptides it is important to exfoliate regularly. I use the IFP AHA/BHA serum on my face but find it too harsh for the delicate neck and chest skin. Here I use Exfol Cream (a mild & gentle AHA cream from skin biology) Here is the link:
http://store.reverseskinaging.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=85
For the eye area (on top and underneath) I use Night Eyes Premier. They have Regular Night Eyes for deeper lines and wrinkles or Premier for lighter lines and/or sensitive skin. This works great and has kept my eye area youthful, firm and basically line free. Here is the link:

Let me know if any of these work out for you. |

Sandralee:
One other thing: When starting off with Copper peptides it is very important to start slowly and gradually work your way up to using the products full strength. I searched an older post of mine that explains how to begin using CP's. I copied and pasted it for you below:
Start by using an equal number of CP drops mixed with an equal number of drops of water. Maybe start with about 3-4 drops of CP's mixed with 3-4 drops of water (For your face). Do this for one week then switch to 3-4 drops of CP's to 2-3 drops of water. Wait another week then continue with 3-4 drops of CP's to 1-2 drops of water. By week 4 you should be able to go full strength without any water drops mixed in. For the chest & neck area use about 6-7 drops of CP's to water following the same gradual process of water elimination over the 3-4 week period. Always follow with an exfoliant in the morning. I like Exfol cream for the chest & Neck but prefer IFP aha/bha serum for the face.
Use the CP's at night with a little Emu or Squalene oil layer over the top. In the morning do not use CP's but rather a C-serum and your preferred moisturizer. (I love Alpha Derma CE) and a good eye cream.
I also use a 5/10% aha/bha serum both morning and night waiting 15-20 minutes before applying either CP's or C-serum. (Face Only)
Super Cop cream and Super Cop X2 is very, very strong and should only be used to help get rid of skin tags, moles, or scars. It is excellent in removing any of the above but will cause redness and itching in the process and I personally would not use it on the facial area over all - maybe for a spot treatment if you have a small mole or scar that you are trying to eliminate.
Ottawa Shopper - Yes they certainly do have C Serums in 20% and even 25%. They do not need to be refrigerated and come in the customary dark glass bottle. |
