I'll start with giving you a bit of history on my skin. I have keratosis pilaris on my arms, and slightly on my upper legs. Unless I exfoliate my face daily, I get roughness on my lower cheeks. I recently switched from a Neutrogena exfoliating cleanser to Vivier Hexam cleanser, along with Vivier deep cleaning astringent. I like my new products, but I'm finding that without exfoliating, I'm getting little bumps on my cheeks again. I'd like to stick my Vivier products, and add an exfoliant into my routine. I have always used a mechanical exfoliant, but since I am very acne prone, am thinking that I may want to try a chemical exfoliant instead. My face is not very sensitive, but I do break out easily. I feel really lost as to what product I should try. I'd really like to get something soon, I know the roughness is just going to get worse! I'd love to hear any suggestions. Thank you!! |

I ordered some samples of this off ebay after I read about here. I got them Sat. All I can say is OMG!! For something that looks, feels & smells so simple, that stuff is amazing! It's pricey by the bottle, but I got the 4 samples for .99 + $2.25 shipping & that should last me 4 weeks. My skin looked amazingly clean & smoother the first time! It now makes me wonder what would be like to use on other parts of the body.
I don't usually rave about products, but this one made me a believer. |

You might want to try the Cure Aqua Gel, it's great, the dead skin just rolls off.

You should try Cure on your hands and neck....someone on this forum recommended that and I was hesitant because of the cost....but I eventually gave in. I've ECSTATIC over the results. Literally rolls of dead skin came off my neck the first time I used Cure and I applied my normal night cream after (SK-II) and I swear, by morning I saw a difference.
I absolutely love this product. |

I would get a Clarisonic. You can use any non-abrasice cleanser with it and the only upkeep you need is to buy a new brush head every 3-4 months. it is pricey at first but it will last you for years! |

I have KP too (same areas) and I was told to stay away from mechanical exfoliants, especially for the face (they apparently tend to break small capillaries). I use the Skin Renewal Peel Solution from Neostrata. It can be used up to 7 times a week and rids your skin of all dead cells. It makes my skin soft and gives it a nice radiance. |

There is also Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel which is much cheaper: 46$ for 50 ml compared to 72,50$ for the same amount with Neostrata, and you can find it on ESD. It smells of apple pie which makes you forget there is actually acid in there !! It made my skin red after application so I recommend using it before going to bed, but it was nice and soft in the morning. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

They also have a Sensitive Formula for those who find the Regular too much! ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

Zia Green/Fresh Papaya Enzyme Mask was my holy grail product for years. An all natural exfoliant, very effective, gentle. Its green & gooey and feels oily when you spread it on. I used to spritz with water part way through to keep it active. I was literally shocked at the result.
If you're allergic to that family of fruit, you may be prone to reaction. If not, just don't rub it in, and be extra gentle about how you apply (on damp skin) & rinse. Its got a bit of a kick with a small amount of citrus oil which makes it smell great, but I'd imagine may be iritating to some - 4th ingredient down after honey and before vit e, so sample first. And make very sure to use a good sunscreen afterwards!
They used to sell sets of samples, and you could keep buying those so it stays fresh. They may last up to 4 or 5 uses. Otherwise $45-50 the last I checked, but I'm in Canada and think its way cheaper in the states. It looks like $25?
* hmmmm, looks like they changed their ingredients around... |

Get a good BHA or AHA exfoliant. They don't rely on you needing to rub a physical exfoliant to every corner of your face (Cure gel included), but simply need to apply it on the face. It will also continue to work overnight if you leave it on your face. BHA has the additional benefit of working inside your pores as well, so it will help with blackheads and acne. |

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's): Do they belong in Natural Skin Care Products
What exactly are Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's) and What do AHA's do?
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) are Fruit acids, which are weak organic acids derived from various sources such as, grapes, apples, sugar cane, maple, pineapple, papaya, willow bark, lemon, lime, sour milk, blackberries, yoghurt and cider, and play an important role in skin care.
Fruit acids are natural exfoliants that perform a number of functions at the level of the stratum corneum on the skin's surface. They loosen and dissolve dead cells from the skin's surface and help to regenerate new skin cells, aid in the control of acne, smooth rough dry skin, improve the texture of sun-damaged and aging skin and retain moisture which leaves your skin healthy and vibrant. |

Yup, I really need to find a dupe of the original or find out how to make a papaya concentrate. I haven't used it in QUITE a long time since I thought between retin-a, cp's, vit c & microfibre and the occasional aha peel out of a bottle I was getting enough exfoliation - but today my skin looks and feels absolutely AMAZING!! |

Green Papaya Concentrate, Sunflower Oil, Unfiltered Hawaiian Honey, Citrus Oil Extract, Vitamin E Acetate, Ceteareth 20, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
I googled and they sold the company and changed the formula a couple of years ago - complaints everywhere and its apparently not selling at all the way it used to.
Looks like all we really need is the gpc. |
