Hi everyone
I have two questions:
Q1 - Reusing Sample Bottles
Do you re-use travel size bottles for travel/gym work? I purchased a Valmont travel kit recently, and the items came in beautiful little glass bottles which I'd like to refill (I'm especially pleased with the toner, which came with a little plastic stopper inside the neck, under the screw-on top). I was thinking of using Miltons to clean them before I refill them - do you think it will be hygienic enough? I don't want to introduce bacteria into my lotions...
Q2 - Appplying Cream to Dirty Skin
If you are out and about during the day, and your skin feels really dry... would you re-apply serum or cream (over make-up, sunscreen and dirt and grime from passing traffic) or just leave your skin dry? (assuming no access to cleanser, and I'm thinking about taming peelies from Retin-A type dryness)
Thanks

I reuse bottles all the time. I run them thru the dishwasher and then rinse them with alcohol. I have not had any issues.

I would not do this personally. The exception would be to spot treat a tiny area. If you already have makeup/sunscreen on then the product wont really reach your skin as well as if it were clean anyway. |

Q1: so long as you're sterilising the bottle it should be fine. I'd just use alcohol (pharmacies stock it) to do this.
Q2: I wouldn't do this. Like GirlieGirl said, the moisturiser or serum won't really reach where it needs to through sunscreens, makeup etc. Perhaps you need to gently exfoliate your face with something like a muslin cloth each morning to remove the flakes. If I don't manually exfoliate daily I get really bad flakes, particularly around my mouth, chin and nose. |

There are travel wipes out there for skin. Josie Maran has something called (off the top of my head) Bare wipes... and you can get Dove product wipes in the drugstore as well as other brands. Carry with to use as neeeded and apply products. I also carry a spritzer with rose water or other hydrosol - this is a nice pick-me-up |

The reason I asked about the dirty skin - I've often heard that air-hostesses apply moisturisers and spritzers over their fully made-up faces; I've wondered how they get away with the potential pore-clogging this should induce... |

Q1. I usually rinse my products with three different soaps. The first one is an anti-bacterial soap, then a regular soap, and then my facewash (to get the pH conditions better?) and I rinse it out with water a couple more times. Then I let it dry a bit in sunlight so the UV can kill whatever's left in there.
Q2. Like others have suggested, I would advise against this. You'll probably end up suffocating your pores. Instead, you could get a spray, such as the multi-active toner, Jane iredales mist (forgot the name) or some skindanavia products... |
