I guess this review is for our Australian members as the Dr. Lewinn's Private Formula line is only sold in Australia and NZ at the moment. For the benefit of our UK and US members, this line is marketed as premium skincare and is sold through pharmacies and department stores.

As it came out after I had left Australia, I had never paid much attention to this line (mostly as I knew nothing about it I guess), but on a whim I bought mum one of their gift packs for X'mas. In the box she got full size of the cleansing milk, day cream, night cream, eye cream, lip enhancer and a trial tub of R4 Recovery cream and R4 Recovery Masque.

oh-good-lord. IMO this masque tops Jurlique's Deep Penetrating Cream Mask. At AU$60-odd for a 100g tube it is a bit cheaper than Jurliques AU$85 for 125 gm (and Dr. Lewinn's always seems to have specials going on too). The fragrance is very similar and so is the texture when applying. It also dries to a similar consistency as the Jurlique .. HOWEVER... the softness of my skin when I washed it off surpassed the Jurlique, my Decleor herbal clay mask AND my $$$$ Cellcosmet Anti-stress mask.

As for the R4 cream, I put this on after the mask and at first I was not keen on the fragrance, but once on the skin it was very very pleasant. I am going to have to try this cream again without using the mask first because my skin feels so beautiful at the moment it is even better than the Valmont Factor II I used a week or so back.

I am VERY pleasantly surprized by this line! Will I buy it? Well, I have not decided on the cream or whether to try the serum or eye cream in this line, but the masque is the first thing I pick up when I hit town again!

PS mum is very happy with the day/night/eye cream too ... although the tingling of the lip contour is more than she can take (Ok, fair is fair.. she is 78 and tingling lips at 78 may not be everyone's cup of tea Laughing ). All the better for me as I will swipe it when next I am home!!

Two things:
(a) I think you deserve some sort of a prize because I never thought I'd be temtped to buy a Dr. Lewinn's Private Formula product. Not sure why that is, after all my mum used to use them and liked them, but I have this certain bias against it that I can't quite pinpoint the source of. I also never realised that they had some natural ingredients.

(b) I'm in the process of patiently awaiting a Jurlique GWP so I can buy the Deep Penetrating mask. My plans have now slightly changed and I am waiting for a Malouf's sale on Dr Lewinn's Private Formula first.... Laughing

I'm not that tempted by the cream, but geez the mask sounds nice! I think you had me at " surpassed the Jurlique, my Decleor herbal clay mask AND my $$$$ Cellcosmet Anti-stress mask" Laughing

Laughing I so understand about not being tempted by this. Of course my mum was always like "oh, Nicky Buckley is the spokesperson" like that gave it an official seal of success or something. Laughing

I found a seller on Aussie ebay who has this mask for $45 + $7 postage worldwide. That is excellent! Delivered to the door at $8 below RRP. She has nearly 1500 feedback at 100% positive so that instills confidence.

Oh, and Mabsy... the drawing power on this one is better than the decleor and Jurlique. After using it last night (had not used it for a while) I had several little pin-head pimples (yes, little white ones) on my lower t-zone this morning. Not highly visible or red or anything and I don't mean anything negative by this comment, I was just amazed that they were there because I did not think there was much to "draw out", but I also was surprized it did so with one use. They are gone now, but I think I will use the last of this up tomorrow night and then buy some more!!

I'm waiting for a big sale - chemists do have rather significant sales on the Dr Lewinn's stuff every so often. I'll let you know if I manage to track one down and see if you need anything at the time Wink

Huh.... I am the same... I dont know why I resist this brand either. I did buy the R4 eyecream though and it is REALLY good. I havent tried the R4 mask but I sure as hell am going to now!! Smile
I got a sample bag of the R4 products a few months ago and decided the cream was a wee bit heavy for me and my oily/combo skin, except at night when it doesnt bother me! It did sell me on the R4 eyecream though.. really nice.
I know what you mean about the fragrance... it's something you would either adore or not like...it is quite like pineapple! Creamy pineapple! Their Oil free moisturiser and the facial polishing gel ( that is one I have and really liked too, the scrub) both have that same fragrance which is not in their other skincare. I really prefer the "pineapple" smell to the smell of their green Gentle cleanser ( the pale green milky one) .... I just plain hate that smell for some reason. Rolling Eyes
I am definitely getting an R4 mask now though, thanks!!

I just thought I would update this review now that I have been using the full size of this.

I am still this stuff. And I think I have to say that I actually find it just as good (if not better) and better value for money than.. than... Cellcosmet Anti-stress Mask, Jurlique Deep Penetrating Mask, and even the Decleor Herb & Clay one. The full size is a huge 100g tube with RRP of Au$60 (I got mine for about $52 though). The Jurlique is obviously has less parabens etc. in it, but this mask just feels so darn nice and leaves my skin so silky soft (and if there is any gunk hidden, it is drawn out the next day for sure). It never dries uncomfortably hard or gives any sign of irritation or redness either. It is also very easy to remove.

Now that I have a box, I can give more information and full ingredients (which is a HUGE list).

Directions: Apply an even layer of the masque once or twice a week to thoroughly cleansed skin. Rest for 10-20 minutes. Remove masque with water and face cloth. (I like to soak the face cloth is hot water, wring, and let sit on the face for 10 seconds and then just wipe the mask away.)

Additional spiel: It contains patented Palmitoyl Tripeptide-3, proven to dramatically reduce the appearance of wrinkles, Pomegranate, whcih protects skin from environmental damage and Matsutake, an Asian mushroom known for its brightening properties. Each application will help draw out pore-clogging impurities leaving your skin instantly clean and refreshed with enhanced smoothness and suppleness.

Ingredients: (taking a deep breath) aqua, bentonite, kaolin, dimethicone, glycerin, sorbitol, ceteareth-6, olivate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, bambusa vulgaris (bamboo extract, Pisum sativum (pea extract, glucosamine HCI, Rosa canina (rose hip) oil, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, c12-15 alkyl benzoate, tribehenin, PET-10 rapeseed sterol, palmitoyl oligopeptide, palmitoyl tripeptide-3, punica granatum (pomegranate) extract, tricholoma matsutake singer (mushroom) extract, crithmum maritimum (sea fennel) extract, algae extract, yeast extract, urea, l-tyrosine, sqalane, spiraea ulmaria (meadowsweet) \extract, triticum vulgare (wheat) protein, magnesium aspartate, zinc gluconate, copper gluconate, phenoxyethanol, parabens (methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl), tocopheryl acetate, parfum (fragrance). PHEW!

Another out of 5 for me.
So, ladies in Oz, as Molly says "do yourself a favor" ... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Sidebar: box states "this product is not tested on animals"

Nope, just the R4 masque and R4 cream for me ... but I also have the lip plumper (mum did not like it).. and I tried her eye cream when I was in Oz (nice, but nothing miraculous).

She really liked her night cream and says the day one is not bad either. But she is ready to move on, so to say. Laughing

Anyway, WOW, where did you get it from with international shipping? That would be handy to know for the future...

I went to the site u listed, they have a site for US (so I could of bought there). Then I went to ebay and bought it for a steal, was a bit concerned since so inexpensive but her ratings were 100% and had sold alot, so we'll see. This lift sounds great, you do it 3x's a month then once a month for maintence. So its def not a daily wash off lift. I'll report as soon as it arrives, its already shipped from what my mail said today. So tiger if mines good from this seller, I'd be happy to repeat my steps and send it on, it was that good a deal. But lets me make sure I didnt get screwed Confused !! I did check packaging ect and it was exact as site.

ps I must be on drugs, Its a ten day product, you use it 3x's in ten days then once a month..

Well done on that well thought out plan of savings distribution, oops, I mean expense distribution.

But what the heck is a LASER brazilian?! I mean I hope they don't burn off something you might need!!

Ok package arrived today, so here I sit with this product on. Seems theres two versions, this ones the ausie version, the american site version is diff looking and contains less products. But good news is I got the real stuff!!!

Ok first ur suppose to cleanse with their creamy cleanser(included) I am def not a fan of this, its a bit oily feeling for me, but wanting to follow instruction, I was a good little trooper and did not reuse another cleanser. Next u mix up the powder and activator and apply with supplied fan brush in upward motions all over face and neck, and spot reapply in troubled areas for what they call double tacking. Then your suppose to leave it be for 30 mins. I am 5 minutes into this and YIKES my face is tight!! *makes note* def plan on not answering phone, door, hubby or anyone, you won't be able to move ur mouth to do it Laughing . This is def not a sit back and enjoy a cup of tea while it works product, I can barely move my mouth. 30 minutes into this and my face is not tighter (not sure it could be), but remaining the same (think frozen).

To remove you are suppose to use a teaspoon of cleanser mixed with 5 teaspoons of warm water and apply with the brush in upward motions to loosen product, then rinse with warm water and pat dry. Ok easy enough . But if your then just rinsing anyway seems like alot of trouble to loosen this first, but again I'll be good. No further explanation needed on this, off it came. My face feels extremely smooth, where I have some lines (mainly mouth area) they are greatly diminshed.

Next..dot face with tissue firming serum and smooth over entire face and neck with dampened fingertips, working from center out and upwards. Tiny trick to using this dropper type product is to hold button down on dropper insert into bottle then release button to get the product up in the dropper, otherwise none goes in. This product is part cream part serum, green and feels nice, sinks right into skin.

I will say I am a bit impressed so far, my face is baby butt soft and smooth. Can't tell on firmness (although my face still feels tight not uncomfortable but tight), since I am not saggy at all to begin with. The lined areas are hugely diminshed but again its only been 5 minutes. The real test will be after the tens days and I am thru with the 3 treaments. Ok I so hope I've covered this, if not ask away!!

Thank you for the review Melissa! That sounds very promising! I'll wait for your report after the ten days and I might get this for my mum to try if you are happy with it.

Btw, might be a good idea to copy your review above and paste it into a new review topic just about the face lift product (what is it called btw?).

The Ultra R4 Recovery Masque is simply incredible. I started using this masque about a year ago and am still using it faithfully.

I was at first quite hesitant to purchase this product as the price was quite high for a product from a brand that in my opinion does not have a following or contain any actives. However my sister raved about. It was not cheap at $65.00AUD.

I absolutely love this masque. The only problem is it's $65.00AUD I have tried to find a cheaper alternative but there isnt one. I love this product!!
