I recall reading somewhere that most people don’t display the signs most commonly associated with aging until they reach their twenties which includes a decrease in the rate of skin cell renewal, breakdown in Elastine, so on and so forth.
If you can delay the aging process through the use of potions and alchemist-style-tools to a point where you appear ten years younger will the accumulated results stick with you for the rest of your life?
Darn it would be so much easier if there was a potion!! It's a shame we couldn’t wait to be born until a time when eternal youth was available in the form of pill at the department store |

I think the changes would only last until you stop using the potions and tools. IMO, you would have to continue using it all to maintain the look. |

After the age of 35 the war against aging is a pretty big fight.....you do have to use anti aging products, diet, lifestyle etc. The earlier you start the better. Wear sunscreen, watch for signs of perimenopause after 30, use anti aging skincare & diet & exercise. Everyone can do this but the key is to start early. |

In my opinion, damage is cumulative and prevention is better than cure. The earlier we start taking preventative measures such as sunscreen, topical antioxidants and eating right the better we'll look as we age. However, if we stop using these things we will backslide, possibly not as much as someone who started looking after themselves later in life. |

Unless we die, the aging process continues it's unrelenting march day in and day out. In my personal experience it didn't catch up to me until I was well into my 50's and had been post menopausal for 6 or so years. It was only then that I started to see some sag and sun damage. (Seemingly overnight, and in one fell swoop I might add )
With all that said my best advice is to keep one step ahead by protecting yourself from the sun, and using skin care products that contain plenty of antioxidants. I'm also a huge fan of AHA's, with alternating use of Retin-A.
As far as gadgets go, I make no secret to what has worked form me, as well as what's gone in the trash or been given away.
Bottom line is this, (and I've never varied from this opinion), whatever increases circulation and encourages the lymphatics to move and drain is going to be your very best friend through the decades. For me it includes a moderate amount of manual massage, Vaculifter massage, LED and Derma Wand..
My only regret is that I didn't have someone to tell me this 40 years ago when I was a young'un like you... But it's better late than never, and I'm rockin better skin now than I have a right to...
Yes, you can slow down the aging process to a crawl, and in many ways help turn around a life time of damage. If you also have good DNA on your side, it's all the better. Taking care of yourself a little each day will pay off tenfold decades from now.
Don't overwhelm your skin and kill it with kindness though... Listen to the clues it gives you, and just give it the *nourishment* it asks for. (You'll be surprised at just how smart it is all on it's own ) |

I recall being in my late 20's and noticing lines around my eyes. Today...many years later..they are no longer.
Why? Because I kept my cool and did my research...and found a new product called glycolic acid...and I started using the cream. It reversed my aging.
Since then...I look at any sign of aging as a reason to find a cure. Just like all of us...we keep trying new things to improve our skin.
No, I don't look 20. But my face is wrinkle free...and I look way younger then I am. Still get looks from men of all ages.\
So girls! It is an uphill fight...but worth it.
Right now...I'm loving all the new research on bio identical hormones...how to match your hormones to that of a young girl. I'm going for it...it makes sense to me. Many report it results in... YES..young skin!!! |

I agree with Kass and hotdoc. I am 52 and I have no real complaints. I love using all my stuff - love the facial exercise, the massage, the dry brushing, LED's, the anti-aging skin care, (gotta get me a derma wand Kassy!). I have not experienced menopause but I can see Bio-identical hormones in my future.
As much as I don't think I look so "young" I surprise people all the time. I keep physically fit, have energy, smile from within and keep my skin as good as I can. And Mom gave me a good head of hair and naturally full lips! And good teeth - hahaha. You have to take care of what you have. And help those things that are not your best.
Like Kassy I wish I had known more years ago (sunscreen, especially) but I'm grateful to know what I know now and I'm happy life is so fun and full of adventures. And EDS has helped me learn so much. I would be nowhere near where I am now if left to my own devices. |
