Has anyone stopped using retin-a for a reasonable length of time then gone back to using it? What were the effects - did you have to go through the dreaded peelies and flakes again or was your skin permanently adjusted? |

Yes, I stopped using it after Obagi, while trialing a ton of other product lines. I have just started back on it, but am taking it very slow. I think if you had the peelies/flakes when you first started the RA, you will have them again starting back up after not using it for a while. You can minimize that by starting slow, every other night, or only 2 nights a week and building up. |

I stopped using it for 2 years and my face slowly went back to what it would be without it. I just started back up with .05 retin a from ADC and i can already see a big difference. Greg |

the best advice was given by a great lady on the makeupalley forum - wait at least 45 min after washing your face before applying retin-a
this really helps with keep peeling to a min.
also, if your skin is sensitive, you might want to use your favorite night cream, wait at least 15 min and then apply retin-a.
many derms recommend this. |

Retin A is awesome, the itching and peeling was a real problem for me.Do not use Aquaphor Healing Ointment,Its too thick and it makes things worse.Get a lighter moisturizer something form clarins maybe. |

Try not to buy anything they are selling, tell them you would like to check the online reviews before and you can go back another day. |

Yes I think that if you stopped using Retin A for some time you should start slowly again. This way you can gage how your skin is reacting. If you peeled the first time then you may peel this time so take it slow and only increase usage or percentage if your skin is coping. |

Thanks - I have been peeling around the chin again (ugh) - the peeling never really stopped over 5 months or so, so not sure what will happen this time. I might start avoiding the chin cos its so unattractive! |
