I've noticed that a lot of older celebs seem stuck in a time when they were at their most famous and have kept that look, perhaps hoping to hold onto their fame. Now it ages them, even with plastic surgery, and they don't seem to realize it. It probably stops them from getting more work as well because it reminds everyone that they are from Olden Times.

Nominate your choices. Mine:

1. Joanna Lumley (of AbFab) needs to soften her makeup and stop overbleaching her hair.

2. Ivana Trump updated her look with that up-do about twenty years ago, got loads of compliments and hasn't changed it since. The makeup seems to be getting more garish lately.

3. Joan Collins: Tone down the makeup and get better, more modern wigs.

4. Sophia Loren needs to get Lasik and lose the oversized granny glasses. At the very least get more modern glasses. She needs wigs that have updated styles. Hers overwhelm her. Lose the fake tan!

These people you mentioned are way over 50 I would say getting close to over 60. I agree with you they need to change a few things but would like hold on to their youth! I am sure it is a difficult thing loosing your beauty and youth but many do not realize that it is possible to age gracefully and still look very nice. Cher is another one who looks good for her age but she is not in her 20's or 30's or 40's or 50's and that long hair needs to go!

Some you have mentioned are close or over 70. Hey, I'd say they're doing great. Especially Sophia who is really amazing - I doubt she's had half the procedures, etc done that others get. That women is a true natural beauty.
Yes, probably a little update would help them but who's to say how much you care or the level that you care at that age. I don't know.

Sofia Loren is 77, Joan Collins is 78 - both are icons in their field. So who cares if they don't look "trendy".

Joanna Lumley is 65, Ivana Trump is 62. I think Joanna Lumley is stunning and has the pizzas to get away with anything. Ivana Trump has always looked kind of tasteless to me - but I think she has a style and a look that is her "brand".

I can't imagine the pressure that an aging celebrity feels. It is hard enough seeing aging happening in the mirror... but to have paparazzi (sp?) and the public scrutinizing you would be just horrible.

But, they also have a the benefit to stylists and unlimited amount of money to spend on skincare. Smile

Yes, they look better than your average old lady but they could look even better if they weren't stuck in a time warp. We all could! Laughing

I give Cher a free pass because she is unique. If she looked any different, she would look strange (which is a bit ironic).

Agree, they are wonderful.

Joan Collins is simply phenomenal,a real family woman as well as a career woman, with a devoted husband. And one of the things I love about Joanna Lumley is she is a great example of a lovely woman who is intelligent, articulate, independant, and a real individual who has been through various stages of her career in the public eye, and just continues being interesting as well as aesthetically pleasing.

So nice to celebrate mature women. They deserve it, we all do. Very Happy

Yes the most recent plastic surgery makeover casualty is Suzanne Somers. I wish the media & general public would leave her and stars like Madonna alone.

I looked at a youtube video taken of her in November and it looks to me like she just overdid the lip fillers and probably some cheek fillers although her face has always seemed rather full to me. At least the lips will deflate over time. Why are doctors still doing this after all the bad press trout pout gets? She certainly doesn't look like she's had a facelift. She still has loose skin around jawline and neck and you can tell she is reaping the "rewards" of years of tanning. Thank god I hated the beach!

Re Sophia Loren and Lasik - some people's eyes just aren't good candidates for Lasik. Also, as far as I know, Lasik doesn't necessarily obviate the need for reading glasses. I know some women who've had laser surgery on their eyes, and still need glasses to do their nails...

At 77 that's bound to happen especially if you have done nothing. She does photograph well.

Most of them have all had surgery, but they still look old. One who has not is Bridgette Bardot and its obvious she has not and looks quite old.Suzanne Sommers looks awful! Why do they always blow their lips up?She reminds me of donaatelle Versace who now looks like one of the muppets!Honestly, they did not pick a good surgeon. You would think with all their time and money they could get a good surgeon.they give plastic surgeons a bad name. Jacquelinne Smith is the epitome of good plastic surgery, she looks just like herself...just a little older, but very well preserved.

Yes, how come some people manage to keep it together, and others seem to fall apart regardless of how much surgery they have. I'm sure it helps to be completely gorgeous to start off with though. However, Nicole Kidman was never gorgeous, she's bought all her beauty.

you need to pick the right surgeon. You can go to 5 different plastic surgeons and each one will tell you whatthey think you need to have done. 5 drs, 5 different opinions. You as a consumer have to background check the dr to see how many times they have been sued.....and you have to try to pick the dr who you think really knows how to fix your face and is competent enought to actually do it. Many of these stars do not do this and it shows. If you need surgery...Take at least 3 months to inform yourself through the internet and go on at least 5 consultations and then start background checking drs and all of the procedures used. Makemeheal.com is a great website to inform yourself on plastic surgery if you are thinking of doing it.

I do suppose it is each to there own and while not everyone Love's or even likes the same celebrities, I must say I do particularly love Nicole Kidman and I do think she looks Beautiful.

However the same cannot be said for all celebrities and I do think some are trying to relive there youth through surgery which sometimes does go drastically wrong. With the right surgeon you shouldn't end up looking worse than when you went in, however I do think this Socialite needs to take a long hard look at herself and the way she use to look and think about what was and what could have been.

In my opinion she didn't need to have any work done, however later down the track she could of just had a little touch up to keep her natural Beauty but alas she looks rather scary and oh so bizarre. Take a look, quite scary!!!

http://www.celebcosmeticsurgery.com/2010/06/jocelyn-wildenstein-part-i-her-story-2/

I do believe she went to the wrong surgeon, as I have seen some wonderful before and after photo's of celebrities and even friends that have had a little nip and tuck and came out the other side looking amazing but still like there true self just a little refreshed.

Also Rmc7 your Face-lift was an amazing result and what you should look like after surgery by an amazing surgeon who obviously realizes that less is more and has kept you looking natural and your true self, while giving you a pick-me-up and refreshed face.

With the right surgeon you shouldn't come out the other side looking scary and freaky looking. Shock Smile

I'm Australian, so I remember her from when she was a young actress here and unknown everywhere else. Yes, I'm being rather cruel by saying she wasn't gorgeous (she was never ugly), but compared to how she looks today - the difference is chalk and cheese. The entire shape of her face has changed and she used to be covered in freckles. She's had allot of work done - but she's actually my "poster child" for good plastic surgery (although she's in danger of going too far with the lips lately).

Joyce wildenstein I believe suffers from body dysmorphic syndrome. Doctors that butcher people like that need to have their license pulled for good. She spent 4 million to look like that. That is just a tragedy and gives good plastic surgeons a bad name.
